Secondly, I feel that with my degree in hand I can help insure that when I open my own business it will be successful. I think many businesses fail because the owners are not equipped with the full knowledge to run a business and before they know it, their business is closed. I feel the prestige that comes with having a business degree and obtaining the knowledge of running a successful business, the…

The law and its ever-changing characteristics intrigued me at a very early age. Growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer. My goal of becoming a lawyer was a bit impractical due to my procrastination after high school graduation and because of my past financial situation. Not knowing what to do then, led me to join the Navy. The Navy afforded me the opportunity to go to school while working and it also allowed me to change jobs so that I can choose something closely related to my goal of becoming an attorney. That’s when I became a Paralegal, or “Legalman” as the Navy calls it.…
There are many questions a person should ask before making the choice to enter into law school and move forward in this career path. Do I enjoy working closely with people regarding significant issues or events involving their lives? Can I empathize with a client’s situation, yet have the ability to objectively analyze the issues and their consequences in light of the existing law? Do I enjoy educating or teaching a person about a subject which he or she may be ignorant or have serious misconceptions? Am I able to articulate in a clear and concise manner my analysis of a problem to others, whether it is verbally or in writing? Do I enjoy being an advocate? Can I argue both sides of the question with enthusiasm? Do I like detail work? Do I enjoy searching for the facts of a situation? Do I like to read and study? After answering these questions, one can determine whether he or she should pursue a career in law.…
My name is Yazer Navarrete and I have chosen to major in Business Administration. I have selected this major for different motives. For starters, I feel like a degree in business does not limit me to one particular profession. I am able to branch out in the business world without the restriction of only knowing one set of skills. If I master the principles of business, there is nothing that can stand in my way of success other than myself. Ever since I was a kid, the entrepreneurial spirit has always infatuated me. I work well with others, but work best managing myself. I am self-disciplined enough to accomplish day-to-day responsibilities without someone watching over me. A business administration degree is one of the few degrees that satisfies my character and personality.…
Today, I am a graduate of CUNY Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations Management. Although undeniably rewarding, the road to graduation was, to say the least, strenuous. When I began the pursuit of an undergraduate degree, I was determined on becoming an accountant. However, instead of solidifying my interest in this major, the demanding curriculum along with being employed full time took a toll on my GPA. As a result, I came to the realization that…
Peaceful resistance to rules and regulations among society goes down historically as something so inevitably iconic as an occurrence known as civil disobedience. It is no doubt that civil disobedience, the act of opposing a law deemed unjust and peacefully disobeying it henceforth, spurs such great controversy in our society. Civil disobedience impacts society in a positive manner that does not hinder nor deteriorate the good name of the just nation that is home, but moreover poses as an influence for what is better accepted by humans as lawful.…

My interest for law began when studying the topic of Crime and Deviance in GCSE Sociology. The subject allowed me to look at how society functions, the behaviour of different social groups and how the social policies put in place by the bodies of government help regulate the social order. Crime and Deviance taught me how laws are made and enforced and the various crimes which occur within the corporate world for example white collar crimes. This led to my interest being focused on criminal and corporate law. However through taster courses I learnt that there are many areas of law which spark my interest as I gained an insight into the core modules of the law degree.…
Concurrent with my interest in the military, I had an interest in the law. I found the ability to debate and argue certain issues very compelling. Another reason why I was initially drawn to such a career field is the fact that the law is occasionally up for interpretation, which can lead to two totally different viewpoints. Although, as I grew older I discovered I had a talent for math and science and found myself more attracted to a career in engineering as that combines the two. Even though I was going away from the law, my interest persisted. After taking a college engineering course, though I discovered that engineering wasn’t the career path for me and I shifted my focus to attending law…
