Part I [Executive Summary]
As part of week 6 assignment “Project Proposal” of module1 [Intro to Project Management], author have studied the case study of Widemen (n.d.) “Woody 2000 project” and propose a solutions to eliminate such problems here in this proposal for successful completion of the project.
Part II [Background]
The Woody’s is the small to medium size well reputed Mr. Ron and Mrs. Emelia Carpenter’s family owned custom joinery company established in 1954 in industrial estates of Someplace, BC that had been later further developed and moved successfully in to subcontract works supplying and installing millworks to the construction industry as part of new generation, their son Mr. John Carpenter’s management vision; and Woody 2000 is the project of Mr. John Carpenter intended to expand their existing manufacturing facilities in advance to ready for possible business opportunities as a consequence of conjectural/expected booming in construction market.
Part III [Objective]
This proposal is to evaluate Woody 2000 project of Woody’s, describe the problems caused failure of the project and authors proposals to solve these problems in order to complete successfully.
Part IV [Overview of the Approach to be Taken]
Woody 2000 project has delayed and cost extra as a consequence of several mistakes on management of Woody’s mainly due to not establishing proper PMLC model:
1) Scoping
2) Planning
3) Execution
4) Monitoring and Controlling
5) Closing
Woody’s on this low complex project could easily be accomplished their project goal through establishing proper/simple linear project management life cycle (PMLC) model processed with project management body of knowledge areas (PMBOK).
