The knowledge of teachers on how to conduct action research was the No. 1 problem based on survey conducted by the regional office stipulated in the DepEd Region XII 2010 Annual Accomplishment Report. For the preceding years, this remains in the top 3 problem of the Region XII.
The other Provinces and Municipalities were already institutionalizing this as effective strategy in finding the real solution applicable on local basis, as one of the tenets of decentralization in the Department of Education. To mention, Gensan and Polomoloc Teachers are required to submit Conducted Action Research every year.
To consider its lawful mandate, conducting Action Research is one of the factors in filing up of the Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (PAST) and Performance Appraisal, System For School Administrator (PASSA). There is an occupational responsibility on conducting it every year, before we have that sense of transparency in accomplishing our PAST/PASSA if we really conducted it. By having this activity be conducted, this will initially equip the school head and teachers on how to conduct Action Research in different schools of Municipality of Pikit. This will able them to have an effective assessment and progressive reculturization of schools by using the merits of

A common form of EBP used within schools today is Action Research. It is a way of allowing teachers to use the classroom environment to explore how successful policy is in practice. Research can be obtained through in a range of ways including statistical data, observations and discussion. Once the research has been obtained it can inform future teaching by looking at the results and what they highlight. It not only enlightens the teaching knowledge of the individual practitioner but also other colleagues, as successful methods and ideas can then be shared. Policy then becomes more meaningful as it is no longer just a written document but is actively present in the classroom.…

I find it fitting that I end my study here, the way I started it, with a citation from The Reflective Educator’s Guide in Classroom Research that struck a chord with me in my beginning. Teacher inquiry is a vehicle that can be used by teachers to untangle some of the complexities that occur in the profession, raise teachers’ voices in discussion of educational reform, and ultimately transform assumptions about the teaching profession itself (Dana & Yendol-Hoppey, 2009, pg. 1). This was my initial perception of what this practitioner inquiry would do for myself – fix my troubles or concerns in my OWN classroom, be able to discuss and perhaps have an influence in my teaching situation, and communicate through various vehicles throughout the community of what and how I am trying to influence my children. After my initial study in this process, my perception remains the same, I strongly believe that action research as truly been one of the most profound studies that I have professionally been a part of. However, the way that the process evolves and expands, were quite different then I imagined.…

One of the most important components of successful science teaching is the use of effective questioning (Clough, 2007). Abraham and Schlitt (1973) argue that, “Teaching requires continuous analysis of both student and teacher behaviors and subsequent modificationof classroom performance.” They also say teachers must be their own critics if continuous analysis is to occur (Abraham & Schlitt, 1973). The topic that I chose to focus on analyzing are the interactions, such as questioning and responding, that take place between teachers and their students. Given the topic, this final video analysis project will focus on answering the question, “What types of interactions are taking place in the classroom?” One way to improve teacher interactions and behaviors is through deep reflection on one’s own practice through action research (Capobianco et al. 2004). I chose to research this topic because it is important for me to better understand whether I am effectively asking questions that guide students to the desired outcomes or merely lecturing. Through this research, I hope to discover who is doing most of the talking in the classroom and whether I am doing most of the thinking for them or if I am pushing them to think more deeply about the subject so that they can make their own connections. I also want to see what types of questions I am asking my students and whether the majority of them are simple answer questions or if they require my students to think critically and make connections to prior knowledge before answering a question I have posed. Finally, I would like to know whether, after asking a question, I give my students enough time to think about their answers and whether I give them the answer directly or if I help my students to find their own answers. Researching this question will have a…

Action research begins with a process of communication and agreement between people who want to change something together. Obviously, not all people within an organisation will be willing to become co-researchers, so action research tends to take place with a small group of dedicated people who are open to new ideas and willing to step back and reflect on these ideas. The group then moves through four stages of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This process may happen several times before everyone is happy that the changes have been implemented in the best possible way. In action research various types of research method may be used, for example: the diagnosing and evaluating stage questionnaires, interviews and focus groups may be used to gauge opinion on the proposed changes.…

VeriChip is the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved human-implantable radio-frequency identification (RFID) microchip. It is marketed by PositiveID, a subsidiary of Applied Digital Solutions, and it received United States FDA approval in 2004. About twice the length of a dime, the device is typically implanted between the shoulder and elbow area of an individual’s right arm.Once scanned at the proper frequency, the VeriChip responds with a unique 16 digit number which could be then linked with information about the user held on a database for identity verification, medical records access and other uses. The insertion procedure is performed under local anesthetic in a physician's office. As an implanted device used for identification by a third party, it has generated controversy and debate.…

This paper is focused on the purpose of applying the participatory approach to school supervision and administration. School supervision and administration are interconnected. They take part in each other’s affairs because they share common goals. The administrative body of schools corresponds to the whole educational system, while supervision represents a portion of it in terms of improving the total teaching-learning condition in the school. The administration highlights the authority, so every act is based on authority. The supervision, on the other hand is based on service. But though each has its own duty and purpose, the essence of working using the participatory approach will help in the proper execution and realization of rules and plans. Not only that, but also with the improvement of the educational systems. In administration and supervision, principles become part of a philosophy which serves to establish and evaluate educational objectives, attitudes and practices (Dimmock and Walkter, 2005).…
