Statement of Purpose Context of Organization | The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is a non-profit organization that provides entrepreneurship education programs to middle school and high school students. NFTE has worked with more than 500,000 students from low income communities in the U.S, and by 2017, hopes to have passed 1 million students through the program. The organization was founded in New York City in 1987 by Steve Mariotti and it assisted with students who were at risk of failing or dropping out. Currently, NFTE has programs licenses with 18 states. These students can see their future in a different and positive way through NFTE. These educational programs are focused on creating inspiration amongst the students, keeping them in school, and exposing them to the world of entrepreneurship. The NFTE Philadelphia chapter established in 2007 is one of 31 active programs in the United States. They have worked with over 2,500 local students from over 20 different schools and have recruited over 150 business leaders from the Philadelphia region to volunteer as guest speakers, coaches, and judges for their students. The program operates by teaching current teachers a set entrepreneurial curriculum where students are required to come up with their own business idea to cultivate throughout the program. |
Current Situation | For years, NFTE has been attempting to inspire students to pursue entrepreneurship and following other business paths. The organization’s main points are focused on finance, business
