Project-wide or objective-oriented evaluations

Checkpoint week 4
Project-wide an or Objective-oriented evaluations

I believe both the project-wide and the objective-oriented evaluation plans could benefit the
PEACE Domestic Violence Program, but the project wide evaluation would be better suited for the program. The project wide looks at the program as a whole, and can be setup for the staff, and the clients, or even the client’s families. The project-wide evaluation provides a better detailed description of the plan. I believe collecting feedback from every area possible is the only way to improve a program. The questions asked would need to be carefully thought out.
The evaluation plan would need to be in terms that could be understood by all, yet professional
. When dealing with clients that are as valuable as the clients at the PEACE domestic violence program one needs to insure them that their opinion is heard, and by using this type of an evaluation would help. Program evaluation is carefully collecting information about a program or some aspects of a program in order to make necessary decisions about the program. This evaluation process can include various activities, which are vital for deciding the critical success factors of a program, some of them are – needs assessments, accreditation, cost/benefit analysis, effectiveness study, goal-based analysis, process outcome analysis etc. All these analyses are aimed how accurately we can collect and understand the data related to our program. There are also a number of benefits of a program evaluation, such as verification of impact of products and services on customers, increase the delivery service, analyze by comparing what we are doing and what needs to be done, and facilitate management thought process and decision making ability.

The goal of program planning and evaluation is to make sure the agency/organization is doing its best to serve all of its clients, their families, the staff volunteers and community at all times. Whether you are an outside evaluator or one who works within the agency/organization, you will want to take a few minutes to contemplate this. If your agency isn’t doing what it set out to do then, why is it there in the first place?; that’s what program evaluation plans are meant for. The program evaluation gives those interested including funders and program managers the opportunity to take a magnifying glass to the agency and see the ‘inner-workings’ and if any of them are clashing or grinding against each other; or if things are running smoothly like a well-oiled engine. It helps to realize what needs to be done away with and what may need to be upgraded or changed in some way. A program manager would be grateful to see this in that he/she would be glad to know that they could spend the organizations money more wisely, as would a funder. A funder would also like to know that the program manager is taking a vested interest in running the program and its various projects in the most helpful, money-wise, useful, eco-friendly and smart way possible.…

First, because program staff will be involved in conducting the evaluation, the cost of conducting empowerment evaluation will be minimal as compared to contracting with an independent person to conduct the evaluation. Second, because program staff are involved in the decisions of what to evaluate and how the evaluation should be conducted, the results will be more meaningful to staff for use in program improvement. Program staff will also be more invested in participating in the evaluation. Having staff more invested in a program increases productivity and caring as to what may happen to the program and to the clients that are working with the program. Third, the process of developing the evaluation plans forces the program staff to take a close look at the program services they intend to provide. As program staff designs the plan, they must strategically lay out the community needs, activities to address the needs of the target…

When planning a program there is a need to have detailed information. Foremost, the program should fit the mission and values of the agency. There should be clear and concise goals and objectives. Usually prior to introducing a program there is a fair amount of research that will be done. This could include the use of focus groups, historical data, current events or others ways to determine the programs need and a logical reason to be implemented.…

Conclusion. I believe using these evaluations listed preceding will help to keep the PEACE domestic violence agency on track and continue to help the community as well as educate to not only lessen the occurrence of violence but also to help those in need of dealing with the stressors of violence. In time, with counseling, education, and awareness I believe that Portland and other large metropolitan cities can decrease the number of instances of road rage, spousal and child abuse, assault, sexual assault, trauma and youth violence. Feedback from those obtaining the assistance is crucial to having this program succeed…

When an organization is trying to reorganize and create new programs, they will use an evaluation plan to do this, an evaluation is a very important step in the development and implementation of the organizations program and projects they are trying to develop. It’s important to have a solid foundation to carry out the mission, goals, and the objectives, and it’s also important to have a way to define success and failures through the proper use of evaluation techniques, appropriate reporting, and having the right tools to carry out the programs. It can be challenging for an agency to decide if they should use a process evaluation or an outcome evaluation plan. The main objective of an evaluation technique is to provide for the state the agency is in, tell how – well or how poorly the programs are working, what may need to be done or changed, and how they are keeping up to meet their goals mission, and objectives.…

The most difficult client for me to work with would have to be a client who is in a demostic violence relationship but is unwilling to leave the relationship due to religious or moral teachings. I chose this statement because in today's society domestic viloence is occuring, in relationships and marriages. It would be hard for me because, I know for myself that it would make me angry right away. Only because individuals let there significant other beat on them, call them names, and what ever else and it's evident that you do not have to live with. That person surely deserves better. Although religion and moral teachings is a huge part of why that person won't leave. But I'll say this, either you leave or you're probably going to be beat to death. Leave and make a statement, let him/her know that if they keep beating on you, you won't be around. Let them suffer without you, because just as much as he/she is beating on you, leaving them would hurt even worse. As for those children who have been in domestic viloence, I know it's harder to take them away from the scene. But it is important for the child to seek help too. Physical violence off all one of the worse things, because it could cause physical and mental problems, arthritis, hypertension, heart disease (long-term DV), loosing jobs due to absenteesim due to results of physical beating, loosing family and friends, embarrassment, abandonment, the list goes on. As for children who witness or are involved in DV demonstrate behavioral/emotional problems, stuttering, anxiety, fears, sleep disruption, excessive crying and school problems. No one should have to through this type of treatment. We weren't put on earth to be beat to death. I would ask this client, what's more important, your health and well-being or sleeping with the…

During the evaluation process an assessment is made on cost, efficiency, programs outcome, programs impact, program implementation, design, and program logic. A reflection of the project scope takes place during the evaluation process where a comparison between what was needed and what was provided is examined. An impact evaluation measures whether the project has achieved its intended outcomes. Cost effectiveness analysis assesses the efficiency of a project. During the evaluation, an outline of the benefits and cost of the program will be reviewed for comparison. Throughout the life cycle of the project, the project team will collect lessons learned. While the project is in cycle, the team members will record both good and bad lessons learned. In essence, the team will record new events that occurred within the life cycle of the project. This type of evaluation will both strengthen individual team members and the project team. The evaluation process will include both internal and external evaluations. The internal evaluation will be done by the project manager. The project manager will have a better overall knowledge of the program and also possess informal knowledge of the program. The project manager is already familiar with the project staff allowing the evaluation process to be less threatening. Finally having the project manager perform the team evaluation is cost effective. The…

If given a chance in the future to plan for an evaluation, I would suggest that any corrections or any part of the program that need some improvement, during the onset of evaluation, feed baking should took place right after the evaluation so that the implementers of the program (teachers) will be able to know where they need some polishing that will be congruent with the objectives of the program. During the design of the evaluation process it would be better if local persons and all those who are involved in the implementation of the program will be present during the discussion period so that opinions are expressed and be validated, for everybody has its part to the success of the program. All evaluation plans should identify both participants and stakeholders, and should include the relevant items developed in the evaluation process. In the monitoring…
