Projectile Motion Lab
Purpose/ Hypothesis:
The purpose of the lab is to explore some of the variables that influence projectile motion using a Rubber Band Cannon and launching rubber bands and measuring its horizontal distance and angle at which the rubber bands has been launched..
Materials:
Materials used for the lab were a Cardboard Box, a 30cm ruler, rubber bands, a measuring tape, tape, a pencil, a paper protractor cut out, and scissors.
Procedure:
For the lab, scissors were used to cut the paper protractor cutout. Then, tape was used to tape the paper protractor to the cardboard box so that the 0° line is approximately 2.5 cm from the bottom of the box in order to launch the rubber bands. With the tip of a sharp pencil the cardboard box was poked to form a hole over the paper protractor and into the cardboard box at the point where the 90° and 0° lines intersect. The pencil was then pushed

One of those factors may have been when the rubber band was pulled back it was not exactly at the 12 cm mark of the ruler, so it could have been pulled too much or too little. A second factor would be that the paper protractor was not taped to the cardboard box exactly at 90°. This affects the angle in which the rubber band was launched. A third factor would be the distance that was measured with the measuring tape from the box to the rubber band, because they might not have been very precise measurement due to the smaller increments. Apart from that problem from the measuring tape was when measuring the distance of the rubber band, the length of the measuring tape was shorter than the distance that the rubber band landed, so the mark at the end of the measuring tape was then continued to where the rubber band had landed. At 30°, the rubber band was the angle at which the rubber band reached the farthest distance, because it had the most forward and upward force and the one shot had the shortest horizontal distance, because it had less forward

This experiment was to use kinetics of projectile motion and free falling bodies to determine the distance a ball will travel after it hits a bounce plate. To determine this we had to use the equations x=(1/2)at2 and v=v0+at and derive an equation that will determine the distance the ball will travel based on the height of the bounce plate and the height of where the ball will be dropped above the bounce plate. The equation made was g*(sqrt(2)/sqrt(g))*(sqrt(H)*sqrt(h)). From here we can make an estimate of how far the ball will travel after it hits the bounce plate.…

The gummy bear project was to provide us with a chance to practice the statistics experimental design, through measuring how far the gummy bears fly from a catapult in centimeters. This catapult contains 3 different stages from which to launch gummy bears at different angles: front, middle, and back, as well as two different positions upon the catapult at either the front or back. Then, based upon each configuration, we launched the gummy bears 5 times, for a total of 2x3x5, 30 treatments.…

For the hypothesis it would be : If the angle is 32°, then it will make the object move through the air because 32° is a higher launch than 25°. So for this we would have the materials pencil, paper the angles, and the catapult. The materials for the catapult would be 2 soda cans, a fork, a couple of rubber bands, and a cap.…

This experiment is to determine what projectile for a Ballista will travel the furthest, to do this two variables will be changed through the duration of the testing period. These variables are: the angle and the different materials the projectile is made of. The three different materials being used for the projectiles are a pencil, a bit of wood and a replica of an original Ballista bolt. The Results of this experiment is hypothesised that the replica Ballista bolt will have the most range of the three.…

The Project motion of a catapult being fired is varied by a range of factors that affect the path of the projectile. In this experiment, the angle of trajectory, mass of the projectile and change in initial velocity of the launch, were all factors considered in the end result to investigate the properties of projectile motion. The purpose of the experiment was to conduct a first-hand investigation to design and analysis how angle, weight and power affect projectile motion, collecting approximate values and recording results.…

In this experiment, you will analyse the motion of a projectile. Specifically, you will be able to explain the effects of variable launch angles and initial speeds to the positions of the projectile along the x-axis and y-axis. The objective of this experiment is to analyse the motion of projectile and to compare the ranges of projectiles launched at different angles. In this, the explanation on the effects of variable launch angles and initial speeds to the positions of the projectile along the x-axis and y-axis will be obtained. The restrictions of this experiments is to never aim the projectile launcher to any person or breakable objects and to make sure that the launcher’s base is securely clamped to the iron stand.…
