Prometheus Monologue
We have lost track of the days. We have lost track of the pain and suffering. We were a fool to befriend Equality 7-2521. The have forgotten about us and has left us in hell. We were discovered to be a friend of them but we could not admit it, for Equality 7-2521. We believe it was 2 years ago when I was taken to the Palace of Corrective Detention to admit the truth but our mouth made a promise to our brother. We were forced to remove our clothing and put upon us dirty rags. A bag was placed on our head. The sting. The first of many cuts on our body. We needed to be strong because we knew he would return to save us from this pain… but they never arrived. Many lashes came upon our back but the screams of agony didn’t come until the twentieth …show more content…
Death seemed more appealing than suffering this way.

“Brother, Brother, Brother, death is only for those that are worthy. You are only a filthy criminal.” He smirked as he removed the rag and walked

“My father’s name is Prometheus and my mother is Gaea.” she began to suspect that our intentions were bad and began to look at the ground and not at us.

“How does their father look like?” Our questions needed to be answered in order to know for sure if this Prometheus was the same person as Equality 7-2521.

“H-he has b-brown hair and skin like mine-” her voice was cut off by the voice of the person we dreaded most on this planet.

“Artemis, where are you. Your mother and I are back from-” He came closer to us and we had to stay because he believed we were still their friend.

“ International 4-8818 is that you” That dreaded voice, it sickened us to our stomach and made us nauseous.

“Yes it is us, Equality 7-2521.” We have not said his name in over five years and now it feels like venom in our mouth.

“My name is now Prometheus, International.” We kept my smile on for as long as I could but I was to weak and gave into my emotions.

“Shut Up.” We spoke in a low voice trying to keep my anger from exploding.

“Excuse me.” They seemed slightly confused at my response and that only made me

Equality 7-2521 strongly resembles the Greek mythological creature, Prometheus, in many ways. They both are very different from their people. Prometheus was a titan who was nothing like the other titans. He fought to defeat his brothers so that the gods could rule. Likewise, Equality is obviously nothing like the people of his society as he was told earlier in the book. “‘There is evil -in your bones, Equality 7-2521, for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers.’”* Prometheus is especially known for introducing fire to mankind, just as Equality planned to revolutionize the world with his light bulb. But when he introduced it to the Council, they denied it. In fact they were scared of his light. Another obvious similar characteristic the two share is their will to sacrifice anything for their beliefs. Prometheus knew he would be punished for stealing the fire from Zeus, but still refused to keep it away from mankind. “…and he suffered for his deed.”* For his punishment, Zeus chained him to a rock and sent a bird to eat his liver. Every day his liver would grow back, so every day the bird returned for his meal. This punishment was meant for eternity. Equality also knew over his long term research that he would be punished severely if anyone found him, but still did not stop in his…

Prometheus and Gaea, characters in the book Anthem, fought through the struggle to gain singular knowledge and individuality. Prometheus devoted his life for a chance at having individual intelligence, in a place where everyone is looked upon as a whole, nothing more, nothing less. In spite of the strong force for everyone to conform to “collectivism”, Prometheus strived to hold the values that meant the most to him without betraying them. Discovering a new advancement of science was something that brought love and joy to his life. Gaea is nothing short of a strong character. She also violates the rules and customs of her society. For example, when Prometheus and Gaea make eye contact, she was the first person to make the first move and communicate. In her society, no one is allowed to have a thought of one’s own. The name Gaea, which she was given as she and Prometheus came in their new society, upholds her as the mother of the new race, which makes her the channel for Equality 7-2521’s descendants. Gaea is in fact, a helping factor in the creation of the new and independent world. She helps to paint the structure of the fresh society, along with Prometheus. They are both fictitious examples of the great scholars of history who have made extraordinary breakthroughs despite of the problems they’ve faced.…

In the small, peaceful village of Rhinebeck, where tourists and travelers from all over the country venture through, a wooden cottage stood just off of Main Street. Within the cottage lay a middle aged man by the name of John Edelman. His short, scruffy beard had begun to remodel itself into a plain of grey, and his once youthful olive skin had turned pale with creases around his eyes and mouth. Most villagers, if asked about John, would have nothing but positive remarks. Kind, quiet, and caring, he often engaged in projects to improve the community, and had come to the aid of many friends.…

In the book “Anthem” everyone is forced against their will in being equally alike; it is against the rules to be different. If you were to disobey the rules or refer to yourself as “I” you will be severely punished or put to death depending on the type of situation. For example, there was a man with gold hair and blue eyes that had his tongue torn out of his mouth and was being burned alive for speaking the unspeakable word. The unspeakable word is the word that equality 7-2521 is intrigued in discovering even though it is a sin. Prometheus (Equality 7-2521) came to understand that he is unique and he can assist his society. His society regards the “best in him” as sinful because his society does not like changes. Prometheus is a man who is…

Jake Frey. A name that carries weight, and fame. Though, the person fortunate, or unfortunate enough to own this name, knows what kind of fame he has. I know what it is I’m famous for. I’m a survivor and a victim, but of course, to some I am a monster. What happened to me all those years ago was not in my control. It’s not my fault that man had decided to come to my school, shoot many of my friends, and even myself. I was only hit in the lower left portion of my back, but playing dead saved me. He had watched as I tried to escape with my girlfriend Lucy, and my best friend Ezekiel, and my sister Raven.…

Equality had been different from his brothers since birth physically and mentally. This was a great sin in this society and Equality thought of it as a curse because uniformity was hailed. They were all supposed to think and be the same with nothing to differentiate them from each other. They were not allowed a name for this reason, so when Equality discovered the answer to the nagging sensation he felt of missing something, he gave himself the name Prometheus. He realized that for things to ever change he had to escape the homogenous mindset that drained the happiness and quality of life of his fellow brothers. Prometheus…
