Promoting Independence is critical for patients in a care setting such as care homes because, it brings high self-esteem, dignity and fulfilment. If indolence is removed from a patient, the individual may feel demoralized and feel depression. One of the major benefits of promoting independence in elderly in a care sector is that it builds a sense of achievement and pride in their accomplishment. An example of independence can be, if the service user can do things such light cleaning, making phone calls or writing a letter, medical stuff should let them because it is one of the most important attributes an individual can
