The video that we were charged with watching relates to the tragic romance Othello because there is some obvious racism involved in both the clip and the script. The video features a man who describes the players of a football team and each description follows a type of pattern. Each African American is described as being physically astounding in the sport while each white American is described as being extremely intelligent with the way they play. Othello is a story that features a man of color (otherwise known as a Moor) who marries a white girl who is of noble descent. In the beginning of the story it is made apparent that the father of the married girl approved of Othello as a friend but not as a son-in-law. If you were to look closely, there are points within the script that one of the husbands, be it Othello or Iago, order their wives to do certain things throughout the story. During the story it is evident that there is a certain point Iago thinks of his wife as nothing more than a puppet or tool to carry out his every whim. This is most obvious in scenes where he outright insults her or even orders her to carry out devious and dastardly deeds to help further a plot meant to give him a great personal gain. For example, there is a point in the story where he receives from his wife a handkerchief she was ordered to steal. Even after the object is acquired he continuously acts rudely towards her and orders away as if she was a slave. Even though the main focus of the story is on the issue of racism, there is a strong amount of misogynistic themes throughout the story. I believe that there is a nice balance of the two themes throughout the course of the script. To say it is only one completely overlooks the other, equally important
