EDUCATIONAL TOUR PROPOSAL

TITLE: Educational Tour Proposal
PROPONENTS: CSG OFFICERS I. RATIONALE

For years, Educational Tours has lived our vision of a bigger world for every student, turning destinations across Philippines into "Living Classrooms."
Educational tours or field trips are learning experiences outside the classroom. These trips supplement classroom learning by providing students with an opportunity to see the actual places, artifacts, flora and fauna, or phenomena that are described in textbooks and lectures. They also enrich the students’ experiences by exposing them to situations that are new to them.
Furthermore, this will provide the students’ to be trained through a broad range of exciting and fun activities. This will also provide a forum to extend the classroom into the environment being studied and to offer students experiences beyond the conventional tourist dimension. The tour has been carefully designed by experienced educationalists to provide maximum value and benefits to students.

Will Bury, an enterprising inventor, is convinced that soon everyone will be reading or listening to everything digitally, including books that have been mostly available in hard copy. He knows that there are books on CD, but these are relatively expensive and have been recorded using human readers. He also knows that there is technology that can transform the printed word into audio, but the sound is somewhat inhuman. Will plans on speeding up the transformation with a proprietary technology he has developed and patented. This technology takes the printed word for text materials and creates a file with the option of reading it digitally or listening to it with a realistic synthetic voice. Will knows that he has free access to books no longer under copyright protection, and he figures he can pay a royalty fee of $5 per title for copyrighted books that will greatly expand his catalog. So far, he has limited himself to English-language books but is working on a language translation option as well.…

The appropriateness of this approach becomes clearer when we consider the educational purpose that is the focus of this book: understanding. We cannot say how to teach for understanding or which material and activities to use until we are quite clear about which specific understandings we are after and what such understandings look like in practice. We can best decide, as guides, what “sites” to have our student “tourists” visit and what specific “culture” they should experience in their brief time there only if we are clear about the particular understandings about the culture we want them to take home. Only by having specified the desired results can we focus on the content, methods, and activities most likely to achieve those results.…

It takes place primarily, but not exclusively, through exposure to the natural environment. In outdoor education, the emphasis for the subject of learning is placed on relationships concerning people and natural resources.”…
