Will Bury, an enterprising inventor, is convinced that soon everyone will be reading or listening to everything digitally, including books that have been mostly available in hard copy. He knows that there are books on CD, but these are relatively expensive and have been recorded using human readers. He also knows that there is technology that can transform the printed word into audio, but the sound is somewhat inhuman. Will plans on speeding up the transformation with a proprietary technology he has developed and patented. This technology takes the printed word for text materials and creates a file with the option of reading it digitally or listening to it with a realistic synthetic voice. Will knows that he has free access to books no longer under copyright protection, and he figures he can pay a royalty fee of $5 per title for copyrighted books that will greatly expand his catalog. So far, he has limited himself to English-language books but is working on a language translation option as well.…

For centuries, women have had to endure gender stereotypes that plague society. Whether it be the limitation of rights, absence of education, or lack of respect, the struggle for gender equality stretches far across the world. Women are often categorized as incompetent, but where did this concept of inadequacy originate from? Many societies have unique cultural values initiated by reoccurring themes present in their creation stories, but the most questionable phenomenon is the introduction of evil into the world. Temptation is the root of all evil, so powerful that it is omnipresent and rules over the world creating an obligation for sin.…

In this essay, I have decided to touch on a very eye opening subject of domestic violence and the effects. I got the idea from the story, “The Day It Happened” by Rosario Morales, and the situation involving the characters Ramon and Josie. This is a real and everyday issue that should people should be more educated on. I have done some research on all aspects of domestic violence and the effects of the many possible victims in a family. I am interested in finding out why the victims become victims, psychological effects on a all possible household members, and where perpetrators come from.…

The archeological and African origins related to the study of human origins were focused primary on the prehistory of Africa from archaeological perspective. However the Africans had their own problems about the origins of humans but the effect of scientific and universally accepted evidence emphasis will be place on archeological interpretations some people believe that the earliest humans had a relationship with the apes, chimpanzee and gorilla that were found in central Africa. In Africa and the Middle East there was Homo sapiens; in Asia, Homo erectus and in Europe by 30,000 years ago this taxonomic diversity vanished and humans everywhere had evolved into the anatomically and behaviorally modern form. Many say that two recent anthropological studies support the theory that modern humans emerged from both African and regional sources but the debate is far from over. Decreasing levels of human genetic diversity have been found at increasing distance from Africa as a consequence of human expansion out of Africa but the earliest fossils that were found in Africa had a primate of a sub-Saharan Africa. Dubious had found so many different fossil not known where they could be from or if they a human or an apes from many years ago. Historical archaeology is the study of cultures that existed and may still during the period of recorded history several thousands of years in parts of the Old World, but only several hundred years in the Americas.…

Diabetes is a serious disease that cannot be cured and implementing an awareness program will help prevent many people from developing the disease. This proposal shows how to create a program that will help lower the incidence rates of diabetes in Latino communities. The program will demonstrate the importance of working out for 30 minutes a day, eating healthy meals and making annuals appointments for a routine physical exam. The incidence of diabetes amongst Latino residents in California is above the national average and therefore it is an important community to target. The cost for diabetes prevention programs can be affordable, even minimal. It is highly recommended to set an outreach program within the Ministerio Manantial De Amor Church community in Los Angeles, California. Bringing this outreach program into the community can help bring awareness and educational values that may be useful for the Latino community in their everyday lives. This proposal will help increase awareness of prevention strategies in the church and the outside community that will help many in the future.…

When I took my first success profiler in the beginning of my freshman year, I was okay with my score and looked at it as a starting point, expecting natural progression. As any eighth grader would be, I was more than ecstatic. .Now I have experienced all the wonderful perks of being a freshman, and have a very different point of view than I did when I was fresh out of middle school. Ninth grade had an incredible impact on my mindset, and it was difficult to say the least. An enormous workload, early mornings, sleepless nights, and the level of patience that was required forced me to address problems I didn’t even know existed. The hard work made me identify the reality of high school. In order to analyze my development or decline, I will compare and contrast my old and newest maps, highlight improvements, and set goals for the following year.…

Sweet Potato - common name applied to a perennial, trailing herb of the bindweed family. The plant, which is native to tropical America, is cultivated on sandy or loamy soils throughout many warm regions of the world, and exists as an important food staple in a number of countries. It is planted primarily for its thick, edible roots, called sweet potatoes. The name is due to a sugar content. The process of extracting and refining the starch is similar to the potato starch process. Sweet potato starch granules vary from 4 to 40 microns with 19 micron in average. The small granules affect extraction procedures in particular the dewatering. The amylose content is 19% - 25%.…

The purpose of this proposal is to address the condition of our private landing and propose a reconstruction solution. Every camp owner will benefit from this as our current landing is in dire need of repairs. The constant rise and fall of the Mississippi River over the past few years has played havoc on the parking area and if not addressed will only get worse. I am concerned with the progressing deterioration of the landing. If we choose to do nothing, it will not be long before we will be launching our boats at the public landing down the street. I have prepared a proposal including a detailed list of what we can expect to pay and if the majority can agree, I can have this project completed just in time for when school lets out in May.…
