Proposal Essay Do you feel like you are doing enough to help the special needs community? A person with special needs is someone that may require extra assistance because they may struggle with physical, mental or medical issues (SpecialNeeds.com). Most people have heard of, or encountered someone in their lifetime that has special needs, but not many people will actually take time to research about it. “One out of every 10 children under the age of 14 has some type of special need, which includes any physical, cognitive, or medical disability, or chronic or life-threatening illness.” (Lin). Special needs is something you can find anywhere around the world. This is a worldwide problem and there is so much that can be done to help! Although there are people with special needs all around the world, start by doing your research and finding out how you can help in your own community today. There are not enough people in our community taking the time to volunteer and help those with special needs. Many people will say its because they are afraid of them, unsure of how to act around them, or just don’t know anything about it. Do you know what it’s like to feel left out? Unfortunately many people with special needs tend to feel this way all the time. If you are blessed enough to have a body that operates and functions normally, why not help those who don’t have that gift? Although many people have good intentions, they just don’t realize it is an issue in their community. This problem needs to be solved because there are so many people with special needs that need some help or just want to feel loved for a few hours by a nice stranger. We all strive to be loved and we tend to forget about the ones who seem to need it the most! You would be surprised at how much of a difference it would make in their lives to feel like they are cared about and not forgotten. So whats the solution you ask?
