PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
There is an alarming increase in delinquency from youths as well as adults, in our beloved country, Trinidad and Tobago. According to the UNICEF report, “Caribbean youth perspectives on violence” (2005 document), it stated that there is the phenomenon of violence with student population is on the increase. The violence was linked to the increase incidents of gangs and the increase in gang-related criminal activity.
In the Daily Express dated March 31st,2013, Trinidad and Tobago has been rank the third fattest country in the world behind Kuwait and the United States of America, who are the second and first place respectively, this was the finding of an article published in the, “The Mail” in the United Kingdom. In Trinidad and Tobago there was an average body mass index of 26.6 for men and 30.6 for women. There is now a greater need for recreational facilities as this would reduce obesity and eventual high cost in medical maintenance of citizens.
