Pros And Cons Jefferson

When Jefferson became president, he cut down down the military to lower national debt (the amount of money a national government owes to other governments or people). This left many pros and cons. During this time in US history, a smaller army might not have been the best idea. If we were to be attacked or declared war upon, there would be a small chance of victory. Europe would be able to just ignore all requests from the US and we would not be able to do anything about it due to the shortened amount of soldiers. This Act also left a great number of people unemployed. Because of this, the government would not get as much tax money.
