In today’s world, many countries have started utilizing alternative sources of energy. For my perspective, there are both positive and negative effects to discuss about whether governments need to promote alternative sources of energy or not. To begin with, the merits of the issue, using alternative sources of energy is one of the best policies to save our natural resources because it is almost limited. For example, solar energy source which is really popular and widely used in Germany can obviously replace original types of energy source such as burning coal and fossil fuel because it is solely derived from solar radiation that is extremely abundant. Another advantage that needs to be taken into account is that alternative sources of energy including hydroelectric power and wind power are environmental friendly. It is not essential to damage the environment as the original source does like emitting air pollutants, CO2 and NO2. There is evidence to support this view that the diversity and the number of wild animals have increased gradually in areas which governments have used hydroelectric power as energy source, whereas those in areas which people have utilized coal have had a tendency to decline significantly. Because by products released from coal power plants, which virtually all of them are toxic, have been leaked into soil and underground water. It is unavoidable that animals consume directly toxic water; consequently this impact seems to affect on the food chain of pristine environment by unintentional activities of human. This leads to serious problems in terms of ecological perspectives. However, some alternative sources of energy are quite hazardous. For instance, the historical explosions of nuclear power plants in Japan and Ukraine have caused serious problems in both the short-term and long-term owing to their accidental
