Pros And Cons Of College Athletes Not Paid

College sports is a huge Multi-Million dollar business. Being such means Millions of dollars are spent every year updating stadiums, training facilities and other areas, all for the “amateur” athletes. But what makes someone an amuture and a pro? Is it money? It’s definitely not training because the argument is there that College players train just as much or harder than the Pros. So I will assume it is the the money that makes a difference. Money is overflowing in areas like Football, and Basketball and although the athletes benefit in one way, said athletes still deserve to be paid for what they do. This is an argument that has been up for debate for decades, but has just now got put up into public light once more. Because of the NCAA’s “student-first” ideologies, college athletes are not paid hence the name ‘Student-Athletes. Athletes work more than 95% of the students the other 5% being Math majors. The NCAA has rules that are intended to limit the a mouth of practice hours for the players to protect them and make sure they are able to do other things like work, have a social life and
If you were to Look around just about any college town around the time the sports season is coming you will see the images of football players, basketball players etc. all over billboards to sell tickets and it works. I suppose it’s another case of if it makes the right people money it’s okay to avoid the Bylaws. Another thing, if we decided to start paying athletes this could be a type of incentive for them and could actually keep them in school. As many know you can declare for the professional draft at just about any point in your college career if you choose. But if college athletes were paid while in school, they might be more willing to finish school. just in case the big leagues don’t work out quite they way they hoped. Many players say they run into money issues and that is the main reason why they declare for the draft
