A health concern involving the quality of drinking water in our community has been brought to our attention. The Safe Drinking Water Act (42 USC § 300f), was passed by Congress in 1974 to protect public health by regulating the nation’s drinking water supply. In 1986 and 1996 the law was amended and required many actions to protect drinking water and the sources of drinking water such as rivers, lakes and ground water wells. The Safe Drinking Water Act authorizes the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) to set national standards for drinking water to protect people against both natural and man-made contaminants that can be found in drinking water. Because of the Safe Drinking Water Act, America's drinking water is safer than ever before.…
There are many debates, papers and articles going back and forth saying that one is better than the other and so on and so forth. One person will say ,”that bottled water is better” and another will say,” no way tap is better.” Almost like the on going argument that went on in Bobby Bushay’s head in the movie Water Boy where he was saying H2O is better than Gatorade. But when it truly comes down to it tap water is really the winner. It’s better than bottled water in many ways in general. Firstly it costs a whole lot less than bottled water, secondly because most of the time bottle water is that same as tap, and lastly it does not make landfills bigger unlike bottled water.…
The agricultural industry is using water that is not healthy and much of it is bad to drink…
Water bottle sales have been going up exponentially these last few years. According to the International Bottled Water Association (IWBA). People who are buying bottled water are being cheated. Tap water is cheaper, more convenient, and the change in taste is almost nonexistent. It is the better choice. Water bottles do not have as many perks as tap and is not reliable.…
Which water is better to drink tap water or bottle water? That question is very common now days. Water is an essential part of human life. Whatever top water or bottled water, we need to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to make sure we are healthy and everything run correctly, but the principal disagreement is that most people prefer to drink bottled water than tap water. Most of us would agree that the argument for drinking bottled water is basically the flavor and there are those who supposed that bottled water provides a safer way to consume the water we need. Furthermore, another reason for choosing bottled water instead of tap water could be the fancy packaging. Therefore, we have to think about which one is better for us when…
All of them can drink water that can be contaminated. The filtration project will save lives and help the health of 190,000 civilians. “Microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, cryptosporidium and giardia pose potential health risks. They can cause various gastrointestinal disorders and can be potentially life threatening for immunocompromised individuals, for the elderly and for children” (Freud, 2003). New Yorkers complained about all the negative things that the Croton’s filtration plant cause but failed to see the big picture.…
Next, "bottled water companies use free plastic, but laced into the plastic are other chemicals that can seep out" (Peppard). Not only is plastic bad for the environment, it is also considered as a safety hazard. At last, "when some plastic comes in contact with water it leaches Phthalate, which can cause bad diseases" (Environmentalist) These are just a few reason why we should pick tap water over bottled water.…
Tap water does not effect the environment but bottled water does infect the environment, so it means that if you drink tap water it will not infect the environment and it will just be normal water…
I’ve always preferred bottled water to tap water because of the taste. Bottled water always tasted fresher and cleaner. According to document 2 it states, “Once the water enters the bottled water plant several processes are employed to ensure that it meets the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) purified water standard.” This shows that even though it tastes clean, it goes through many processes so it can meet the potential of the FDA. Unlike tap water, bottled water does not contain any chlorine. In document 1, the chart shown says tap water contains chlorine and often times fluoride. Bottled water does not have any of this, making it the safer option to drink. Although it is more expensive than tap water, it is definitely worth drinking…
Tap water is better than bottled water because of the reduction of waste. According to National Geographic, “The U.S. public goes through about 50 billion water bottles a year, and most of those plastic containers are not recycled”. Those water bottles end up going into landfills, in the ocean, or on the side of the road. Water bottles are creating so much waste, it’s going to be deadly to our environment. But with tap water, washable glasses are used. No wasteful plastic is used, just reusable containers. To keep the Earth a suitable place for life, tap water should be used over bottled water. Tap water is better than bottled water because of the reduction of waste. Instead of 50 billion water bottles destroying the planet, use tap water.…

Our economy is dependent on good clean water. Unfortunately, we have not always been the best stewards of our resources. The water is no exception. Recently Flint, Michigan has been in the news. The inhabitants of that city were forced to drink bottled water when the city’s water was found to contain large quantities of lead in it. As part of an effort to reduce, spending the city started using water from the Flint River. The Flint River was contaminated long before the switch came. In an article dated 02/26/2016 by theverge.com, Tim Carmody stated “Before processing, the water itself is polluted from four sources: natural biological waste; treated industrial and human waste; untreated waste intentionally or accidentally dumped into the river; and contaminates washed into the river by rain or snow”. Three years later the residents of Flint are still drinking bottled water and are dealing with the consequences of decisions made in the past. According to mich.gov, women and small children should be careful when they eat fish. They have published booklets in several languages to explain the hazards of eating too…
In this article “The Case Against Bottled Water”, Petty and Trudeau (2008) claim that people should stop drinking bottled water. The first reasons consist that tap water has more quality control than bottled water. Also, dangerous substances are found in plastic water bottles. The second reasons is about the grave environmental consequences on the consumption bottled water. Statistics about energy consumption to produce bottle water, show that it is necessary a large quantity of freshwater. In addition, high energy consumptions is required to process a bottled of water for the consumer. Moreover, the environment and the food chain are vulnerable by the number of empty bottles that are thrown in inappropriate places. The last reasons is involving…
People who want to live a healthier lifestyle will drink bottled water over any type of sugary substance drink. (IBWA) This not only cuts out the sugar, it also cut out caffeine, calories, and much more non healthy ingredients in the drinks. Bottled water also has to go through a filtrated system to make sure that their product is safe, and not going to make anyone that drinks it sick. This way so that people can stay healthy, and make their life better with the healthy choices that they make.…
Water is a vital substance that is required to survive, without it we can suffer from severe dehydration and possibly even death. The Mayo Clinic Staff states in "Water: How much should you drink every day?", that "Every system in your body depends on water. For example water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells, and provides a moist environment for ear, nose, and throat tissues" (Mayo Clinic Staff). This elaborates on how your body uses water to keep your body healthy. But you have to keep your body replenished with water in order to stay healthy and hydrated, to do so you must do the obvious and drink plenty of water. Then comes the choice of where you get your water from and the safest would be bottled water.…
