natural gas can reduce CO2 emissions than coil and almost none of the mercury, sulfur dioxide or ash effects the air quality (Pros and Cons of Fracking 2014). Long-term with the decease for oil consumption it wouldn’t be wise to lose your water supply for the years to come.
If the local government did pass fracking in its community, some things should be considered. First research other communities that have already done fracking and see the economic effects it had and the cost associated with it. If it’s on an international level, research should be shared to prevent any environmental hazards, and local governments should be held accountable for their actions. The sustainability of the community depends on educated people who can appropriately decide on environmental issues associated with fracking. Some examples are the known carcinogens and poisons attributed to fracking. Pumping these chemicals in the ground will surely find its way into the water supply. The community should check their resources to see if it’s local townspeople or if its oil industry reports as they can be persuasive. Oil deposits should be a thing of the past and renewable energy should be the future. As it took thousands of years to make these resources it will take thousands to replenish them.
