Every person knows what the circle of life consists of- to be born, to grow and to die. The lines between the right and wrongs of each are fuzzy and unclear. Assisted suicide brings up one of the biggest moral debates and there are so many questions with no clear answers: who should and shouldn’t be allowed to assist in suicides? Should assisted suicide be just for the terminally ill, or for all? What protection will there be for the people? and the biggest question of all- is it right or wrong? Those who are considered “pro-death”, believe that being able to choose how one dies is their own right. That there is a significant “difference between killing a patient and allowing a patient to die” (Breslow). Others however, believe The Suicide…

The “death penalty” is currently utilized in thirteen states throughout the United States. There are currently 3,242 people sitting on “death row” and 43 of those are currently incarcerated here in Nevada. The death penalty is nothing new. Everyone has either read about or watched movies of people having their heads chopped off during medieval times, hangings during western times and one of the most severe executions throughout the ages is that of the crucifixions during the time of Christ. Then there were the executions that few have been aware of and are most likely one of the cruelest of all were the ones of a person convicted of patricide. They would be “tied to a sack with a cockerel, a poisonous snake and a dog, and then thrown into the river, or sea.” (Jerome, 2012).…

Some pros to the death penalty are that it protects innocent people and that the death penalty serves as a deterrent. Sentencing convicted murderers with the death penalty we are protecting inmates, guards, and people outside the prison. If we do not sentence convicted murderers with the death penalty and instead sentence them with life we are giving them the opportunity to murder while in prison. A statistic shows that by executing convicted murderers we are saving from three to eighteen innocent lives. The death penalty serves as a deterrent because without the death penalty there would be a lot more murderers. This is so because a lot of people do not commit murder in fear of the death penalty and those who have committed murder would…

It is a personal choice to argue from so called moral grounds – but saying “it’s a personal choice” doesn’t lend one’s position inherent validity, for arguing from a secondary definition of morality can be a tricky business when your secondary definition of morality is at odds with and ignores the natural law that governs universal moral norms. To argue from a secondary position of morality as you implied you define it lends greater moral weight to the life of the murderer than to the lives of his victims…

Society in general views actions such as murder, rape, robbery or even burglary as an act, evil in nature, public or of moral principles. These actions are considered to be Malum in se. Laws which are viewed as Malum prohibitum, consist of acts banned by laws such as speeding, drug use, or even prostitution. These acts are seen as regulatory infractions, more examples include, inside traders who illegally share information or avoiding tax payments. The concept of assassinations is not a recent one. It would be nearly as old as civilization itself, for the deliberate killing, often of those in power, but also of individuals who are obstacles to those in power, is an essential part of politics, and the politics of life itself. Black’s Law Dictionary (the most trusted law dictionary in the U.S.A.) defines Assassination as, “Murder committed for hire, without provocation or cause of resentment given to the murderer by the person upon whom the crime is committed.”…
