The likelihood of an injury from this hazard is high as people could trip over it, maybe rushing to an emergency and the chair is blocking the way and causing a risk to staff and patients. The severity of injury is that someone could break/fracture a bone depending on how hard the fall is or the age/health of the patient. However we understand that some people need to be transported by wheelchairs as they cannot walk from a leg injury or they may just not be able to walk very far from where they were coming from. A porter may have left the wheelchair just in case an emergency occurred and we needed to transport someone quickly to a place who couldn’t walk/ walk far. The wheelchair could also be a hazard to children who decide to play on them as the brakes may not be on which would cause the wheelchair to move whilst a child was on it. This could mean that a child would end up falling and the wheelchair falling over causing another risk from the wheelchair being left…

In our local town a stationery supplier is located up a stairwell where access to anyone with mobility problems was denied. This supplier is a small local ‘shop’ with only 4 employees and to convert the access is not law enforced as it would not be financially viable. The proprietor, in order to aid inclusion for all, put a doorbell at the bottom of the stairwell so customers with mobility issues could ring and then be served by staff. Although just a small gesture it has certainly…

Administrators allowing workers to build cement ramps alongside the stairs leading to the entrances of buildings would increase the progress of students, faculty, and staff members by allowing them to get around more effortlessly. By adding ramps people in wheelchairs will be able to get inside the buildings easier and safer. People with crutches or any other kind of impediment will also benefit because they won’t have to endure those lengthy steps to reach the entrances. Perry Pathetic’s quote on high mobility is one that tells the reader to look past the pros and instead realize the various cons that come with the age of high mobility. Pathetic goes on to state the sheer easiness of mobility that vehicles such as trains and cars have provided us with and how it's a driving force for the separation of family and friends. Pathetic mentions that as we travel longer distances we start to separate ourselves more and in doing so we develop a lack of interest or lose track of those around us. Pathetic may sound like your typical old school grandpa with stories of “back in my day…” but the reality is he is touching a very untalked about subject when it comes to dealing with society and social bonds. Sure technology is a benefit but that doesn't mean it cannot have any burdens as well.…
