Have you ever won a trophy and you were so happy? Holding that trophy in your hand how did that make you feel, were you proud of yourself, were you happy to be appreciated for your hard work. Nowadays, trophies mean a lot to little kids, and those little participation trophies, certificates or metals mean something special to every child that receives one. Participation trophies give kids the opportunity to be acknowledged for their teamwork, sportsmanship, and effort. Many kids today don’t have a clue that teamwork is the way to go in life. You can’t just get by in life without having your right hand, because most people are right handed and you need your hands. Think of it like this if you did not have hands how would you grab, touch and get by. Your hands are used for everything there’s not any second in the day that you do not use your hands. Think of teamwork like that, with teamwork you can get a lot of …show more content…
places in life. You need people behind you that’s going to support you and have your back. Being alone in this world is really not the way to go. Parker Abate stated, “It will be very hard to go far in the “real world” without understanding teamwork.” That’s a strong quote to me because I really did not like being in teams with other people i always like to be the odd man out because i thought that I could do everything more efficient when I was doing it myself. But i later learned that hard way that having a team to help you out that’s putting in the same effort as you is really good you can get a lot done with people like that. Teamwork is the way to go and these participation trophies let the kids know that they did a great job as a team. Even though, you are working as a team the sportsmanship has to be there or you’re really not a team. These kids put in the work worked together to help each other. Being on any kind of team you’re going to always cheer your teammates on to let them know that you got them even if they slip and mess up they did their best. I know that coaches drill that into their team head, so that there is no altercation on the team. That everyone cheers each other on so that no one feels like they did give their all or they are not being supported by their team. I love to here when my team cheer me on even when I mess up or get nervous when I hear my team yelling my name pumping me up with energy and positivity I believe in myself and I perform really well. Abate explained, “Any kind of honor can make a young kid feel as if he or she meant something to the team, and that could boost the child’s self-confidence--.” Sportsmanship is the key to having an outstanding team and providing the kids with a trophies that shows them that they have succeeded in these skills is a great message. However, the kids that are apart of a team puts in a ton of effect.
It does not matter what kind of sport it is. The effort of these young kids are incredible and they should receive an award for striving to do their best. Any child that is doing good and is working hard to do good and puts in the energy that they know is need to go so good deserves a participation trophy. It takes a lot to be dedicated to something and give your all to it, not too many kids will do that. But if a young kid is loving what he or she is doing and works hard to be the best at what they are doing needs to be acknowledged for their incredible effort of doing so. In Youth Sports, Participation trophies Send a Powerful Message by Parker Abate cites, “Despite knowing that they are not particularly talented, these children go out and participate, generally to the best of their ability.” Effort of any child should be acknowledged, and giving these kids a participation trophy is showing them that their energy is worth
wild. Although, not every child that just interact and give incredibly effort or is apart of a team should receive a participation trophy. Such as the bigger kids that are apart of a team should not receive a participation trophy it diminish the value of the trophy. Participation trophies are a substantial message to the little kids, but for older kids they mean nothing. Because the older kids actually know the value of a trophy and knows that you only receive a trophy if you are a pleasant team over achieving the other team. The bottom line is that participation trophies send a powerful message to youth kids. They learn the values of being a teammate. They know that they are being acknowledged for their hard work.
