The subject of women’s health worldwide has caused uproar within communities including both men and women alike. The most widely known establishment for women to go for cheap and easy healthcare is an organization called Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood was established October 16, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York City, NY. The organization offers a variety of services such as cancer screening and prevention, STD testing, contraception, and abortions. This medical institution, especially in recent times, has been under heavy scrutiny. While a large population believe that the entirety of Planned Parenthood is absolutely evil and unethical, they would be harboring false beliefs given that the actions taken by Planned Parenthood are completely

According to D’Angelo Gore with FactCheck.org, “Abortions accounted for 3 percent of the nearly 10.6 million total services provided by Planned Parenthood clinics in 2013, according to its annual report.” Gore then proceeds to list off a series of numbers and statistics to support this claim, one of the statistics being that Planned Parenthood performed 935,573 cancer screenings, including breast exams and Pap Smear tests (Gore). Cancer is a very serious illness that most people see or have seen in their lifetime either firsthand or through a loved one. Planned Parenthood provides cheap or even free scans and checks to ensure the safety of United States citizens who may not have the time or money to go to a hospital and go through that rigorous and expensive process. Planned Parenthood, as a result of their services, has saved countless lives. How serious could it have been? I was 27 and had no family history of any kind of cancer. Then I remembered Planned Parenthood ....
