Pros And Cons Of South American Imperialism

Imperialism is a policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force. When imperialism takes place in a country what happens is that the peoples lifestyles change and they have to follow directions of the country that takes orders. Colonization is a process by which power dominates the surrounding land and its components consequently this is similar to imperialism because they both are involved in taking over an undeveloped country.

In the mid 1800s, Europeans took over the weakest countries in Africa and divided the Africans into ethnic and linguistic groups. The reason why they took over Africa is because their resources would help with their industrial production and they need slaves to work with them. In this year, 2030 the US should not colonize South America because they will not leave any resources for the people and the South Americans will not be happy with the lifestyle the US will want them to live by.
The day before the Europeans took control of Africa they split up the Africans in ethnic and linguistic groups(World History Patterns of Interaction,2009,p.773). The Europeans imperialized the weaker countries to divide them up into ethnic and linguistic groups to modernize Africa. If South America gets divided up into ethnic and linguistic groups then they will not be able to live where they want anymore. Moreover, the Europeans did not pay attention to Africa’s ethnic and language groupings the only thing they cared about was taking control of their land, the people and stealing Africa’s resources(World History Patterns of Interaction,2009,p.779). The Europeans goal of colonizing Africa was to have them work as slaves for them. Slavery is over now so we should not make the South Americans work for the US as slaves.
