To increase the access to healthcare was one of the major purposes of the ACA. Therefore, the ACA contained many policies that help increase access for low income Americans and among those policies is the expansion of Medicaid. Prior to ACA, Medicaid coverage was only for children, pregnant women, parents, seniors and individuals with disabilities (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2017). The affordable Care Act had both negative and positive impacts on each area of the iron triangle. For the access part, 20 million people were able to get healthcare coverage, and the quality of care increased in some areas such as, a decrease in hospital readmission, also the free three preventatives care each year for all individuals. However, the cost remained the same and in some aspect is increasing. Therefore the ACA was able to increase access, increase quality, but in some areas the cost is slightly increasing. There are still many revisions and sacrifices that need to be made in order to decrease healthcare cost, increase access, and increase
