Pros And Cons Of Transgenders
What happens when a child tells their mother that they are not comfortable being the gender they were born as? In this day and age, people are becoming more comfortable with coming out as being the opposite gender. This raises many issues, such as what bathrooms this subgroup of people should be allowed to use. There are quite a few Americans who oppose Transgenders using bathrooms of the gender they identify with, and it is becoming a bigger issue with every new day. Should they be allowed to use the bathroom of their choice, or will that end up making more problems for people? There have never been cases of a trans person attacking a cis person. In fact, trans people get attacked in bathrooms much more often. Critics might believe that these

Forum # 5 In the documentary “Growing up Trans” the main conclusion is that there is another way to battle certain issues. “In the film, Alex who is a transgender boy was born a girl who felt uncomfortable with her body and decided the best option was to become a boy”(Growing up Trans) It demonstrates just because a person is born a boy or girl, it does not mean their sexuality has to be confined to society’s standards.…

On the other hand, it is also a homosexuals human and moral rights. Every homosexual has the right to be jubilant in the same way that heterosexuals are. Each individual has their own morals, although some may not agree. A USC Aiken senior, Micah Hurtt, says, "Some people cannot separate the religious aspect. It is not a matter of religious right or wrong morals; it is inequality." Even though heterosexuals have different morals, homosexuals still have the right to be…

When infants are born, the first words uttered from the doctor is the sex of the child. As soon as the sex is announced, the baby is already perceived a certain way. By categorizing human beings into two different genders, male or female, you are limiting these people by gender roles and societal expectations. When doing this it causes harm to anyone who strays from their gender or sex assigned at birth. A term to describe these people is transgender. A transgender person is someone whose identity is not the same as their gender assigned at birth. Many other identifying people fall under this category. It is time to deconstruct society's views on gender and provide necessary rights to transgender individuals. Transgender people not being accepted into society is a significant problem in contemporary culture that challenges the traditional norms of the gender binary.…

One of the articles that caught my attention was “Gender Neutral Bathrooms” by Jonah Yokoyama, the director of Heartland Trans Wellness Group. He is a transman and an experienced educator, regularly training providers on how to best serve transgender people in hospitals, doctor offices, clinics, and schools. In his article, Yokoyama answers most of the questions related to gender-neutral bathrooms. He points out that not only transgender or gender non-conforming people are affected by bathrooms segregation, but other people who are totally happy with their biological sex also experience this difficulty. For example, parents with different gendered children are not able to accompany them in gender-segregated bathrooms (a mother with her son or a father with his daughter). Disabled people with differently gendered attendants or family members are not able to bring them into gender-specific, multi-stall bathrooms. To the best of my knowledge, not all public places have family bathrooms. Gender specific bathrooms are potentially unsafe and intimidating places for a variety of people. Many people have had the experience of being threatened, harassed, assaulted, or questioned by authorities in sex-segregated bathrooms. Gender-neutral bathrooms are extremely necessary. Everyone is allowed to use gender-neutral bathrooms. They create private, individual spaces that are…

I never really thought about gender besides that we are born either a man or woman. I’ve worked with transgender individuals before and I didn’t think much about it except that they are who they want to be. The main thing I learned from that lesson is the dangers in how you handle gender with your children. In the McGraw-Hill site, we learned about a child named Storm and how his parents are raising him genderless. I talked about this in the discussion on what did we think, but it is just something that has stuck with me. The American Psychological Association’s Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Concerns Office stated that there is no research available that says weather being raised a “genderless child” is harmful or not. To me, that just means that what they are doing is an experiment that can go horribly wrong just because their oldest is a transgendered child. I will use this information in my family life, if we decided to have children I plan on not overemphasizing gender. I think that will just confuse them if they do not know their gender. If they decide later to change who they are, we will accept that and love them for…

We as a society have this false sense of reality that everyone is treated equal, but I often ponder if we are truly equal? Everyone in the world today fears what they cannot understand. People have this enormous cowardice of homosexuality. If we as a nation are looked upon as being righteous, then why do we treat same sex relationships unfairly? Nowadays, same sex relationships are a natural occurrence. Everywhere in today’s media it is very easy to hear and see about the events, news, and controversy surrounding the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community and their right to marriage and adoption. Many people support the idea of equality for all regardless…

The bathroom is a private and generally safe place for people to go. However, imagine for a moment that you are a woman, but for some reason or another, you could not use the bathroom facilities of your designated gender. If you are a woman, you would find yourself in the midst of a bunch of strange men who would be glaring or leering at you as you walked into a stall to take care of your business. If you were a man, women may yell or cower at you as walked in. Needless to say, the situation would be uncomfortable for all involved. If you were a woman, the chance of you being attacked would also increase as well. Now imagine having to repeat this scenario on a daily basis for the rest of your life. That is what it is like for transgendered people. Many cisgendered women cry out that allowing "men" into their restrooms would lead to more violence and rape in a place that should be safe. Yet, one fundamental thing that they miss is that transwomen around the country are forced to put themselves in a potentially deadly situation every time they want to use the restrooms. Some may argue that it would allow for perverts to legally enter their…

Feminism is a practice that strives to end discrimination, exploitation, and oppression of people due to their gender, sexual orientation, race, and class (About Education, 2015). For several years women have been trying to gain equality with men and still trying. One of the purposes of the feminist movement is ensure the rights of women who have been deprived of their equality and privileges just because they are a female. I believe that a woman should have equal rights as a man, and even though this movement have come a long way where women now have the rights to vote and hold government positions similar to men they are still being treated unfairly. I fully support the feminism practice because it’s beneficial not only to women, but also…
