Bump, set, and spike are the usual terms that most people use to describe volleyball. Not only are those terms being used incorrectly, volleyball is much more than just that. The correct way to address the three touches each side is allowed to use per play is pass, set, and hit. Volleyball is a great sport and is beneficial in many ways; unfortunately it also has its negatives. Ways that this sport can be beneficial to people can vary, some examples are spiritual, physical, mental, and more. Mostly all negatives fit into the category of physical injuries. A couple examples of known negatives that are caused from playing volleyball are bad knees from landing after jumping, dislocating shoulders, rolling ankles, spinal injuries, and worst of all, floor burns. Ok, so maybe floor burns are not the worst part of volleyball, and even if it was it would make up for how great of a sport it is.
To begin lets start of by getting an understanding of what volleyball truly is, how it is played, and everything else that lands in between. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by getting the ball to land on the other team's court, which measures 30 by 30 feet. A player on one of the teams begins a rally by serving the ball from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Each team may touch the ball up to 3 times but individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively. The first two touches are used to set up for an attack. The first touch is considered a pass, and the second is called a set. An attack is an attempt to direct the ball back over the net in a way that will make it difficult for the receiving team to
