The protection of children act 1999 is an act that has all the names of people who are unsuitable to work or be near children it means that you need to make sure you have checked with the Criminals Records Bureau before offering employment or volunteer work to those people in order to protect and keep all children from harm and abuse, When the safeguarding vulnerable groups act 2006 was enforced in 2008 it meant that adults working with children or any vulnerable groups where inspected and it wasn’t just for settings it was also for clubs such as junior football and gymnastics this act has protected a lot of children since it came in to use as now settings have to check with Criminal Records Bureau with any services and volunteers they may
use but any adult who has not been checked must NEVER be left alone with any children this act also covers those adults who have learning difficulties, The childcare act 2006 came into effect in 2008 the act merges with the welfare standers where all places registered to work with children under the age of 8 years must follow and also has an Early Years
Foundation Stage which means a learning framework is in place for children 0-5 years, following the welfare requirements will affect every day to day work in all settings this will mean following the adult to child ratio and the level of qualification for staff members.
