Career in Physical Education “ The hearts of children are delicate organs. A cruel beginning in this world can twist them into curious shapes.” I feel that Quote by Carson McCellan is so true. The duty of a physical Education teacher is to educate students in grades k-12 on how important exercising and eating right is beneficial in their lives. A physical education teacher teaches indoors the majority of the times. I really want to become a physical education teacher after getting my Bachelors degree. The reason I want to be a physical education teacher is because I want to demonstrate and explain to students the importance of fitness. As a younger student I was inspired by my elementary Physical Education teacher to choose this career. He was an excellent role model showing me how exercising was important. I’ve interviewed my Physical Education teacher and collected more resources on getting the job, duties and education courses necessary for having Physical Education as a major.

Physical Education teachers are a huge factor in bringing out children’s intellectual and social development in their growth years. To become a Physical Education teacher you must have a Bachelor’s degree and pass a certification exam for the State Teacher Board. While in school you will have to undergo general science and biology, mathematics, and reading. My high school Physical Education teacher, Mr. ?????????, said that his college coursework was useful in preparing him for teaching. The last semester of college is spent as a student teacher. You are assigned to a school and teach with a cooperating teacher’s class load for 10 weeks. This gives the prospective teacher a real perspective of what it will be like to become a Physical Education teacher. Also it’s important to have another minor in a different subject to look more attractive to the employer. Today’s teacher job market you have to be patient and research everything that’s going on in the market. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that “teaching opportunities throughout the United States range good to excellent over the next ten years, though variances will exist in some localities, at certain grade levels, and in particular subject areas.” In my interview with Mr. ????????? , he explained that when getting specialized and qualified for a position, all education students must complete 100 hours of observation in their content area, as well as 30 hours in a Special Education environment.

Being a physical role model for children is beneficial to students and will encourage them not to be overweight. Physical Education Teachers work in elementary and secondary school settings. At the preschool and kindergarten levels, P.E. Teachers help younger children to develop their motor skills, spatial ability and cognition through movement, while sharpening students' social skills by leading them in cooperative activities. These educators may teach older students about exercise and fitness, team and individual sports, team building, health and nutrition, or the effects of exercise on human body systems such as the muscular system, the skeletal system or the cardiovascular system. Physical Education Teachers often become involved in a school’s extracurricular activities by becoming sport’s coaches. Physical Education teachers have to make lessons plans both weekly and monthly to see what curriculum responsibilities need to be met and planning the activities that will accomplish these goals. During the interview with Mr. ??????????, he told me his responsibilities were to teach three sections of freshman PE, where he teach fitness concepts and skill for three game units. He also teaches two of advanced strength and conditioning classes which focus entirely on performance enhancement and fitness. In addition, he’s a varsity football coach and sophomore baseball coach. Additionally, he runs the Elk Grove High School strength and conditioning program.

With all of duties enumerated here, he works long hours. His work hours are pretty crazy and extreme. During football season he works about 80-90 hours a week 7 days a week. At the varsity level it is pretty hardcore. In the offseason, he will slow down and work about 50-60 hours a week. Finally, during baseball season he is back up to about 70-80 hours per week. For him typical coaching day is getting to work at 5:15 AM and leaving at 7:30-8:00 PM.. I guess that is the main downfall about a P.E teaching career, your duties can get you really tired, plus take away time for your family. He told me that he hardly see his wife beacuse he is always working. Sometimes work will have to come before your family. There are mulitple benefits of choosing this career. Most of all you have fun while getting paid for it. You get to be around children and teens all day and help them develop and most of all stay fit or get fit. Having children working out helpa children keep their weight under control, establish good heart-healthy habits, prevents bone loss, manages high blood pressure, boosts energy level, increases blood cholesterol levels, and helps manage stress. While helping students you can join in some of the activities and have fun. When you are in a classroom setting you can still have fun by being around the students and helping with academic work and using humor while doing it. In the interview, Mr. ?????????? told me that he “absolutely loves the relationships he has formed with students and other faculty members.” He loves to coach and bring out the best in students. To him, that is the very best aspect of teaching. Another benefit is the pay. Starting P.E teachers start between $30,000 and $40,000 a year, depending on the district. That’s not bad, in my opinion, when your job is really fun and less stressful compared to a business job. Mr. ?????????? is really doing really well. He told me that he makes from $70,000 to $90.000 a year, depending on how many coaching assignments he takes. He has a master degree and 8 years of experience. He also mentioned that completing his masters in performance enhancement and injury prevention has given him an extremely solid foundation to improve his coaching and upper level PE classes. Having a Masters Degree is an important part of both improving your teaching and improving your salary. Also with an Exercise Science degree you can go into other related jobs in this field like Aerobics Instructor, Geriatric Fitness Instructor, Weight-Control Counselor, Dance Instructor, Personal Trainer, Health Club Manager, Fitness Program Coordinator, and Strength and Conditioning Coach. You can also get a certifications with this degree and be an Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapistor a Sport’s Nutritionist.

From all of my research and my interview with Mr. ????????, I learned so much about what it is really like to be a Physical Education teacher and I’m very excited about the information that I got. If I can become a Physical Education Teacher, I can change children and young adult’s lives. The thought of that motivates me to work really hard to reach that goal. I’m going to stay in school until I attain the highest education level there is to learn more about the field. That’s is what Mr. ????????? did , and he’s doing quite fine. I see no reason why I can’t duplicate his success if I apply myself and dedicate myself to working as hard as I can to attain my goal. The final request from Mr. ???????? was to do it, for him. He said it was the best decision of his life, and he would love for me to follow in his footsteps. It has given him so much more than he ever would have expected. He has stability, responsibility and most importantly he has fun. In conclusion, after examining all my research and all I learned from my interview, you’d better believe that I am more convinced than ever that I will become a Physical Education teacher.

For well over a century, there has been political turmoil throughout the Irish isle stemming from the British occupation of Northern Ireland. With this occupation goes a tradition of armed resistance to the British military and other political installations. This tradition generally only found effective expression when large sections of the Irish people, faced with the British government's denial of the legitimate demand for Irish independence, exercised the right to use armed struggle (Coogan 10). The Irish Republican Army (IRA) was formed after the Easter Rising of 1916, which was the first major uprising in Irish history. Their goal was to remove the British from the Irish isle and unite Ireland once and for all under home rule. Although many may consider the IRA to be nothing more than a terrorist faction that has had no political strength and puts its own best interests first, it is clear that their actions have influenced Irish and British politics and that, even through violence, they keep the best interests of their people at heart. To this day, however, the British maintain that their influence is needed in the north and have yet to show any signs of…

When people think of physical education in the school system, the first thing that comes to mind is children running and playing. To some, it may be perceived as a mere distraction to school as a whole, and others may think of it as a way for children to burn their energy down. Specifically in Milwaukee Public Schools physical education needs to be more than just a class in school; it needs to be known as a necessity for children and their health. Their health is important because of the need for the advancement in medicine, this epidemic needs to be stopped and the overall future of people.…

The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) was formed in 1969. The Official IRA declared a cease-fire in the summer of 1972, and subsequently the term IRA began being used for the organization that developed from the 'Provisional ' IRA. Organized into small, tightly knit cells under the leadership of the Army Council the IRA has remained largely unchanged. It is difficult to know the exact number of IRA members because of the political and economic persecution that comes with publicly endorsing the IRA. It is estimated that there are several hundred members, plus several thousand sympathizers, but the IRA 's strength may have been affected by operatives leaving the organization to join hard-line splinter groups.…

Physical educational professionals should be demonstrating and a model of what they teach. Physical educators should value wellness and fitness and continue to do so throughout their respected careers. One professor suggests that the lack of skill and in depth activity content knowledge is a major problem in (PETE) programs and for the future of the physical education profession. There are two major factors that can be credited to this dilemma. The first factor is being an increase emphasis in major curriculums on classroom oriented theory and models at the expense of quality activity and the second factor is the lack of both tactile expertise and skills in many teachers. There is a wide variety of areas that physical educators should have knowledge of which includes the fundamental motor skills, individual and dual activities, team sports, aquatics, gymnastics, and educational dance. These skills are an essential part of the preparation of a physical educator. Every student that is studying to be a physical educator should be able to walk the walk not just talk the talk in other words be a role model for their students.…

The Irish Republican Army (IRA) has sought for a unified Ireland for decades through the use of violence and intimidation in the form of terrorism. Britain’s occupation of Ulster (Northern Ireland), has been a controversial reign with a primarily Protestant influence on a previously Catholic area. This has led to various civil right issues and activism in the most affected parts. Politically, the feud is primarily about land and the unification of Ireland, thus the disputes over who Northern Ireland belongs to. In the case of the IRA, it is believed that Ulster should be the Republic of Ireland’s land, especially considering the fact that it was taken from them in a series of struggles, and not controlled by Britain. Therefore, the IRA aims…
