One research method that is used in research psychology is the Observation and Correlational Research Design. This method of research is researchers predict behavior by measuring variables through various surveys and using observation of the study but researchers do not try to manipulate the subject or control particular attributes of the participants. Researchers normally try a sample of type of participants and they test the variables that are of interest in the research. This can be done in several different ways from survey questionnaires to direct observation of the behaviors of the individuals behaviors and then scoring the behaviors in a numerical order from 1 being low to 10 being high (Zechmeister, Zechmeister & Shaughnessy, 2001).
The second form of psychological research method is Experimental Design Research. This type of research is used to prove the causes of certain psychological problems. In the Experimental Design the researchers use as much control when presenting the variable as possible. The research presents the issue (variable) and then uses that variable in different situation, one may contain the variable and the other would not. The situation that is contained in the text is alcohol and date rape and in order to get a viable perspective and accurate results the researcher must present the dependent variable and the independent variable and with these the researchers manipulates the variables to see what the results
