After reading the chapter, look back at your original description of yourself and point out the following:
What part of the self did you write about (self-knowledge, interpersonal self, executive function)?
I wrote mainly about my journey in discovering my own self-knowledge. I wrote about growing up, finding my way, and figuring out who I am. I do believe that executive functioning and interpersonal self-played a role, but not as much as self-knowledge did. Overall, I believe what I wrote about me finding self-knowledge, an interpersonal self, and my executive function. I think all those things combined help in finding one’s identity during adolescence. I wrote about taking a trip out of my small town and gaining perspective on my life. According to the textbook’s ways of knowing about the self, I believe I used introspection and self-perception. I used introspection while writing and thinking about my mental state at that time. I also used self-perception because I was observing my past behavior and writing about it and how it made me feel.
Did you mention your self changing? If so, what seemed to promote that growth?
I did mention myself changing. A lot of things promoted that growth. Many outside forces that I did not mention in my previous writings influenced me to grow and made me into who I am today. The main catalyst for my personal growth was going on that trip and gaining perspective. Getting out of my small town, I realized that my problems were so miniscule and that there was a whole world out there. From there I spent more time with family, rekindled my love for art, and transferred to a different school. The hard time I went through was awful, but it promoted so much growth and has made me into the person I am
