Presenting Problem
Ms. Allison reports that she felt severe anxiety that makes her insecure and lacks trust in anyone or anything. Though she does not feel this over the past two years, she now feels overwhelmed and exhausted.
History of the Present Illness Ms Allison is a 33-year old white woman who started recently seeking a psychological treatment. She is a flight attendant who reports being anxious and afraid from everything including her job fearing she would have a plane crash especially after the September 11th terroristic attacks. Her real exposure and confession to herself started. When she arrived in Seattle, she spent her first night in the emergency room. Since then, she stopped dating anyone seriously. Out of anxiety and fear, she used to live alone keeping a large pair of men’s tennis shoes and a large dog bowl outside her front door though she was single with no pets. The emergency room was the start to get psychological treatment. Allison was very alone though she was with six siblings and two parents. Her father was working most of his day with no care to any of his children. The mother was addictive to smoking. However, they never left Allison unsupervised except in the company of their 45-year old single man who committed molestation. Her older siblings cared for her; however, her only sister did not. The family was apart though they were in one house. Ms. Allison did not mention much information about her parents or siblings. She struggled to fight her anxiety, inherited by her mother, independently.
This conservative white family led to the tragedy of Ms. Allison after they threw her to their neighbor who sexually abused her. Her successful two-year romantic relationship with her boyfriend gave her support to fight fear and anxiety.
