1.) Distinguish between operant conditioning, observational learning, and social learning. How are these different kinds of learning utilized in the work place? Give specific examples for each one. I think an example of a voluntary unpleasant consequence in a work place could be if you are getting yelled at by someone and you think before you speak and still decide it would be okay to yell back.
They watch what people do and if they get into trouble, they don't do what that person did. But if that person stays out of trouble and gets praised, you would want to do the same things they are doing.
Social learning is also learning by observation but it has more emotion and behavior. You might see how your co-works or bosses react to their responsibilities and if they react negatively you might act the same way if you have to do those duties.
2.)How is prejudice developed and nurtured through classical and operant conditioning? Give specific examples that demonstrate each kind of learning.
Classical conditioning is involuntary responses and operant conditioning is voluntary but we are rewarded or punished for our behavior.
Classical: You could be overhearing people talk bad about someone and automatically think those people are not the type you would want to be friends with since they are talking bad about someone. Or you can just hear rumors about someone and automatically not like that person.
3.)You are scheduled to present the results of your work on creating a new software program for your company. What memory techniques will you use in order to be free of too much dependence on notes and PowerPoint slides? Be specific as to how you will relate the technique to the content of the presentation.
4.)Name and describe the three qualities of emotional intelligence according to Goleman. If you were interviewing applicants for a position in your company and wanted to know whether they had emotional intelligence, how would you go about discovering that? Would

Operant Conditioning molds behavior by the consequences of an individual through punishment, reinforcement and extinction. Observational Learning happens from observing the behavior of other individuals. Social Learning is a behavior learned from a social environment. Prejudice is developed and nurture through classical and operant conditioning from an early age when an individual acts prejudice towards something and is rewarded for acting in such a way or saying such things. For example A parent, say father, says (and please do not take offence towards this it is only an example!) “Stupid wet-back, they’re no good for anything but taking our jobs!” a son or daughter will learn that this is applicable behavior. Then when the child, son or daughter, says something along the same lines around his or her father the father would agree, laugh or show affection towards the child’s comment. Thus the behavior is not being corrected allowing the ignorant behavior to continue. For my presentation I would use Rhyme-keys and Loci Method to help me remember notes and slides. I would Use Rhyme-keys for myself on key words in the slides to help me remember key ideas with Loci Method with pictures and diagrams in the slides to better help my memory. For example if I had a slide on the marketing sale rates on, say computers being sold I would use a graph with percentages over time with a scale on sale rate, I would use key words to explain the key points for why there is a clime or fall in sales. Cognitive, physiological, and behavioral are the three qualities. Cognitive is a mental process that involves memory, attention, understanding language, producing language, reasoning, problem solving and decision making. Physiological deals with the understanding of one’s own body, hygiene and appearance. Emotional is in regards to self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. If I were interviewing applicants for a position in my company I…

Classical, operant conditioning and observation all begin with learning. Learning is the process of obtaining new and relatively enduring information or behaviors. This enables humans to adapt to our environments. The way humans learn is through associating naturally occurring events in sequence. Through association the process of learning is called conditioning. There are two types of conditioning called classical and operant.…

Learning and Memory Worksheet Write a 450- to 700-word essay to describe the relationship between classical and operant conditioning. Explain their elements and how they differ from one another. Additionally, provide an example for how learning can occur through each mode of conditioning. Explain how Ivan Pavlov and B.F. Skinner contributed to the study of learning and conditioning. Classical conditioning is the process of learning a new behavior through stimuli in the environment. In this process, a new behavior that was previous autonomic or unconscious can become tied to a stimulus. Classical is more of a reflex and operant is more of a response. Classical conditioning is a process that involves creating an association between a naturally existing stimulus and a previously neutral one. The elements of classical condition are neutral stimulus, unconditioned stimulus, conditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, and conditioned response. Classical conditioning is when something happens and causes you to react also known as reflex. For example Imagine a dog that salivates when it sees food. The food is the naturally occurring stimulus. If you started to ring a bell every time you presented the dog with food, an association would be formed between the food and the bell. Eventually the bell alone would come to evoke the salivating response. The elements of operant conditioning are reinforcement and punishment. What makes Classical and Operant conditioning the same is that you will get a response with both, but it may be in different ways. The difference between Classical and Operant conditioning is that classical is where you do not know whether or not you will respond to something. Operant Conditioningis a method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for behavior. Through operant conditioning, an association is made between a behavior and a consequence for that behavior. With Operant Conditioning, you will either get a positive or negative…

    1. Caroline is interested in determining how squirrels find the caches of nuts they buried several months earlier. She watches the squirrels in a park and notices that they tend to bury food near landmarks, such as trees or benches. She predicts that moving these landmarks after the squirrels have buried their food will prevent them from finding it later on, and designs an experiment to test her prediction. Caroline’s approach is an example of…

For instance, one major difference is that Classical conditioning happens before a response and Operant conditioning happens after a response. For example, in Classical conditioning Pavlov experimented with dogs. According to the text, “To begin, he rang the bell. At first, the bell was a neutral stimulus (the dogs did not respond to it by salivating.) Immediately after, he placed meat powder on the dogs’ tongues, which caused reflex salivation. This sequence was repeated a number of times: bell, meat powder, salivation; bell, meat powder, salivation (201). So what you can draw from this experiment is that the sequence of events that he performed had to be repeated in order to train the brain to associate the bell with salivation, which had to occur before a response was made. Vs. Operant conditioning which occurs after a response. The example used in the text to explain this is, “Pushing a particular button is reinforced by gaining the consequence you desire, such as changing channels or muting an obnoxious commercial (206).” In this experiment he showed that the response happened after the reinforcing event. So not only are they different because of when the response occurs, but they are also different because Operant conditioning is caused by associating a behavior or response with some type of reinforcement. In this type of response Skinner used either negative or positive reinforcement to…
