When you hear the word encouragement, what do you think? Do you think of motivation, pep talk, or role models? Have you’ve ever asked yourself what yourself what this word even means? To me I’ve thought of it many, multiple times. When I hear this word I think of taking myself away from the world. You motivate yourself to do whatever your heart has always told you. Encouragement is the key to your happiness, the voice you hear when you think of all your dreams, dream of your dreams and follow them.
When you have a dream, do you just think of it? Do you want it to happen? Do you ever stop to think about what you can do to achieve your goals in life or your true dreams? When you think of these things, you’re motivating yourself. You may think of encouragement when someone else is there besides you holding your hand telling you to move forward. No one can always be by your side guiding through this obstacle called life. You have to believe in yourself, congratulating yourself when you do something good. You encourage yourself to live on, which is why I am writing this paper. I’m telling you, you don’t need a friend when in doubt. There will always be those doubt thoughts you can’t get out of your head. When you’ve think everything has gone wrong and you’ve gone completely hopeless and all you can do is think, ‘is this worth it, should I just leave my life?’ Don’t think that. Encouragement is you to find yourself and hear your voice. You can always pick yourself back up. You can never say you have nothing left, because you do, your motivation. No one ever took away your happiness, your thoughts, your dreams, and your feelings. Their still there, so you have something left. I want to tell you that you have me here. You have me to listen too. You have me to hear your voice. Don’t ever think you have nothing left, because you do. It’s you. You have that ability to look up in the stars and ask yourself what you’re going to do today. You might say sit around and cry about your life, but do you really want that. Do you want just negative thoughts to surround you and take over your motivation to keep living? Do you want your happiness to soak away and leave you stranded? I’m here to say you have everything left but your just letting yourself thinks this. You can’t let something called weakness take over your brain. This is why you have encouragement. Encouragement is that key to the lock of happiness. Its happiness that makes you think everything is alright. You don’t always need a shoulder to cry on, because you never have to cry. I’m writing this to touch your heart, to tell you its okay to be sad. It’s okay to say you hate everything. It’s okay to cry and yell at the world. It’s not okay to let these feelings take over. When you feel like this you take a deep breath and believe in yourself. Encouraging yourself to feel better. Feel that happiness you could never feel before. Start a whole new path hearing yourself encourage you to move forward because no one is stopping you.

In my past I have experienced working for a management that used achievement motivation as a tool for motivation personnel. This attempt at motivation the workers worked to some degree. Supervisors would select employees whom they felt performed admirably over a 4 month period and would select 5 of them to receive 250 dollars or 3 days off with pay, an excellent performance reward, and public recognition. This type of reward inspired to motivate many employees but everyone is not inspired by this method of motivation. Although it reached the majority of the employees, some were still not motivated and eventually failed because they were not motivated to perform better. I think that will or drive theories would have increased…

Disruption of attachment can mean short term or long term separation/deprivation. Research into short term separation is the PDD model by Robertson and Robertson. They observed children in hospital using a time sampling video technique. They wanted to find out the effects of short term separation on the infants. An experience of one of the children, John who was put into residential nursery while his mother was in hospital. When John was first put into care he didn’t like it and cried, then John wouldn’t sleep and refused food. Near the end he ignored his father when he visited and became emotionally detached. Robertson and Robertson found that during separation children were extremely distressed, and on their return home, were less attached and less affectionate. They then came to the conclusion of short term bond disruption in three stages called the PDD model. This was protest which the infant begins to show e.g. crying, screaming and clinging to mother. Then despair like John displayed where there is little response to comfort and more apathetic behaviour. Finally the last is detachment where the infant rejects the caregiver on their return and is angry. However this study could be criticised because the sample was very small and the findings cannot therefore be generalised. This means that it is not a representative sample. To overcome this however, a larger sample could be used so then we can generalise this and draw better conclusions. Although this study may lack reliability they used content analysis where they collected both qualitative and quantitative data.…

In life, I believe it is important to have something that you can strive for and dream about. Having dreams also gives hope, which is imperative in this journey we call life. If we all have something to work towards, then I believe it will keep us working hard and keep us driven. An example in my own life used to be to be a baseball player. After I messed up my shoulder meaning I couldn’t play anymore that dream simply wasn’t possible. Now I just have different dreams and aspirations. I want to be an accountant and then to move on to bigger and more major business ventures. This hope can keep me working hard to get to where I want to be and to have hope that I will make it.…

My life of failure and true disappointments has been what I would call an educational disaster. I believe in the foundations of education, the roots of learning which stems from the roots of your soul and the passion in which you strive for. I pray for success and courage that I will make it. I want to do my best and like Florence Chadwick when she swam in the mighty ocean, she never saw the bottom, she only saw the shore line and sometimes that was even difficult, but with motivation, determination and most of all strength, she braved the darkest hours as well as the shining moments. Her arms and legs may have given out, but it certainly was her heart that did not quit. I will be brave in my mind, for I do not want my mental diseases to take over my heart and make me a quitter again. I have PTSD, and I have come up with an anagram for the 4 letters, Positive Thinking Shall Develop. This will be one of my motivation words that I will put by my mirror to make me smile and strive for that tassel of hope.…

This study is based on the effect of positive reinforcement on exercising more regularly. I wanted to try and exercise at least 30min – 1hr everyday within one week’s period of time. In trying to do so I used positive reinforcement to increase to time I used to exercise more each day. I studied myself for this case and I am a 21 year old female who attends Southwestern Illinois College. Over a seven day baseline period I noted that I never exercised at all, unless you count the time token to walk to my car and or from one class to the next. Over the seven day treatment period I exercised more being that I couldn’t watch TV unless I completed at least 30mins of exercise. So if I wanted to watch an hour of TV I had to exercise at least 30mins and this was very successful for me. The use of positive reinforcement in this study was easiest for me and worked to help me exercise more. In the future when applying behavior modification to help me exercise more I may try something different to help me increase the timed used to exercise daily. Instead of using a privilege as a reward I can switch it up and use something I really want, such as a new pair of shoes as a positive reinforcement to continue to get me to exercise more regularly each day.…

What the researchers mean by ‘subjective well-being’ is that it takes a broad view of happiness, beyond the pursuit of short-term of physical pleasures defining a narrow hedonism. It is also define as life satisfaction, the presence of positive affect, and a relative absence of negative affect. ‘Subjective well-being’ is measured by hedonic well-being where it’s proposed that an individual experiences happiness when positive affect and satisfaction with life are both high.…

Subjective well-being is based on people experience life satisfaction and emotional experience. SWB reflects a person’s perspective quality of life positive or negative life emotional experience. Some people’s lifespan has more positive life experience and more happy satisfaction memories in their life so they would have a very very high level of SWB (subjective well-being). Now as for a person who has a negative life experienced their SWB level will be extremely low, and they will be unhappy. SWB is a little bit related to our personality traits and our health good health tends to be a positive emotion on a person SWB and mental health or bad health tends to be a negative focus on a person SWB. How is this construct measured? They are measured separately and very independently using a self-report method, questionnaires and another way is informant reports which men the report is collected from the person who participants’ closest friend, family, and preach if they attend church These people are to tell how the participants’ mood, emotions negative or positive for the study which is taken while they are around them . Would I choose to be hooked up to such a machine? Personally I would not do this to determine my emotions rather they are negative or positive I will not want to be hooked up to a machine. A person feeling of happiness and sadness is part of life and it what we go through to feel the negative feeling which is sad or mad (upset) or if the feeling is positive which is happy and full of joy. Now say you want to achieve a goal into something this kind of determination is a good feeling, but it is eudaimonic it something you achieve in your lifespan it’s a challenge you have to face so you will learn and face thing like satisfaction and some time dissatisfaction which will make you push harder until you achieve that goal. On the other hand hedonic is when you experience happiness from a relationship and have a pleasant…

Reinforcement is a major component when it comes to learning. Without it, the individuals who learn would have difficulty learning from their mistakes and realizing when they do a good job. Reinforcement has a very simple meaning and that is, strengthen. In the field of Psychology, reinforcement refers to anything stimulus that strengthens a response (Ref 5). When it comes to learning, reinforcement can be used in a classroom, outside of the classroom and in most types of experiments. For example, whenever a student scores a high grade on a test, the teacher congratulates him/her. This is an example of a positive reinforcement.…

When I reflect on the meaning of positive psychology, a multitude of thoughts and ideas come to mind. Positive psychology is not simply defined and I imagine it has different meanings for different people, based on their backgrounds and unique perspectives. I am drawn to the concept of positive psychology because it places considerable emphasis on positive aspects of human life and behavior. People do however, experience legitimate problems and sufferings in life and I believe we need to be careful not to invalidate or ignore this truth. I don't think that positive psychology attempts to overlook human suffering and deficits. Rather, it highlights the significance of individuals acknowledging their innate strengths and applying them to…

In my high school psychology class we learned that all behaviors are learned, whether positive or negative. I am fortunate enough to have two positive influences in my life; my parents. My parents have helped guide me in establishing right from wrong from merely observing their behavior. No one wants to disappoint their parents so they imitate their behavior in order to avoid getting in trouble. Two summers ago my mother was the manager at the Cascades Falls in Jackson, and I was working as her subordinate. A customer came up and began complaining about the price of the falls, and was using vulgar language while doing so. I personally was infuriated that someone would verbally attack someone for something that was not even their fault (let…
