Such as a Behaviourist perspective would focus on the human behaviour and a cognitive theorist on cognitive processes. Psychology relies on theory and experimenting to arrive at conclusions.
Common sense refers to the good sense of practical matters, people use common sense to judge situations in their daily lives. It also leads people to draw sound conclusions about matters in life. It implies to social expectations of being able to perceive, understand, make sound judgement based on reasoning previous experiences. Common sense does not use any scientific theories, but relies on intuition and social understanding. Common sense cannot be verified, it is a traditional belief that a society holds and expects from human beings. It is not a discipline.
Like other scientific fields psychology needs scientific method to direct its research of study, psychology studies aim to describe, explain, predict and maybe influence mental process, by conducting a psychological research. It uses set theories and policies which are set by researchers to stem out questions and gather information in order to reach conclusions.
Scientific method provides unbiased methodology for scientific experiments that results in objective interpretations of the world and refines knowledge.
As was first outlined by Sir Francis Bacon (1561 - 1626), scientific methods allow for sensible and logical problem resolve across numerous scientific areas. Verifiability, predictability, falsifiability, and fairness are the main rules in all scientific fields.
