In another research by Brouns et al. (2013), a shortage in affective empathy
[feeling other‟s emotions] instead that of cognitive‟s [knowing other‟s emotions] is

considered to be vital to psychopathic qualities [individuals with these qualities are
“characterized by impulsive and antisocial behavior, weak affect, and a narcissistic interpersonal style” (Frick & Hare, 2002 as cited in Brouns et al.)].On the other hand, lack of experimental proof for adolescent empathy shortage with psychopathic characteristics is inadequate. In this study, the simultaneous and potential results of psychopathic characteristics on affective and cognitive trait empathy in late adolescence were explored.
