face would have a greater reaction. If you shake his rattle or try to make him hold it, this would make him grin as well. I certainly think Jack will be playful as he continues to grow. Jack’s psychosocial traits and behaviors were enjoyable to observe and I enjoyed learning his personality.
Jack had strong cognitive abilities.
He showed a great amount of reflexes for his age. He was startled when my phone started to ring. He was able to notice when the ringing started and stopped because when my phone rang, he showed the Moro reflex of his arms flaring up. His eyes got bigger as well. He follows moving lights with his eyes because I moved one of his toys with small lights back and forth about a foot from his face and his eyes would follow. He seemed to be focused on the lights and the toy. Jack turns his head in the direction of sounds as well because when his mother talked to him near the side of his face, he turned his head towards her. He acted out the rooting reflex when I touched his cheek because he turned in my direction. He would constantly look around at his mother and I, and other objects in the room. When I put my finger in his palm, he grabbed on tightly acting out the palmar reflex grasp reflex. Jack showed great examples of Piaget’s cognitive abilities that I now have a better understanding
of.
So far, Jack has a stable family interaction. Jack doesn’t interact that much back to his family since he is still so small, but he does show a little bit of interaction by having small smiles, having great eye contact and making cooing noises. He loves seeing his mother and father’s faces, and their voices because he would start to smile even more. Playing with Jack is trying to make him grasp on rattles and toys that make noises. He seemed to like doing this because he would move around more and make cooing noises. His mother and father interact with him by holding him close to their face and trying to talk to him with baby talk. When they do this, he has a cute little smile. His mother has started to read baby books to him. This sometimes puts him to sleep. She will also hum and sing to him when she thinks he needs to go to sleep. Jack looking and smiling back at me is already a great family interaction that I’m glad he has.
