The PITFL ligament has superficial and deep components . The superficial fibers originate widely on the posterior tubercle of the tibia and run obliquely, distally, and laterally to the lateral malleolus. This ligament works with the AITFL to hold the fibula close in the fibular groove of the tibia.

Here we go as Chris injects me in the femoral vein, which is considered to be one of the largest veins in the venal system and is located at the right of the thigh and runs close to the femoral artery. This vein returns blood in the leg to the heart via the iliac vein. Moving north we will pass through a structure that is called the inguinal ligament. This ligament forms like a band that runs from the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubis area of the spine. (Yahoo health 2012) The inguinal ligament serves as a base to the inguinal canal because hernias can easily form at that spot.…

--The 4 ligaments of the knee are the ACL, LCL, MCL, and PCL. The Anterior cruciate ligament is located in the center of the knee. This ligament controls rotation and forward movement. Lateral collateral ligament is located on the outside side of the knee, giving stability to the outer knee. Medial collateral ligament is located on the inside of the knee, giving stability to the inner knee. Posterior cruciate ligament is located in the center of the knee, and controls backward movement of the tibia.…

The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is one of the two cruciate ligaments of the knee, the other being the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL). These ligaments are the stabilizers of the knee. The ACL is a strip of fiber tissue, which is located deep inside the knee joint. It runs from the posterior side of the femur (thigh bone) to the anterior side of the tibia (shin bone) deep inside of the knee. The ligament is a broad, thick cord the size of a person 's index finger. It has long collagen strands woven together in a fashion that permits forces of up to 500 pounds to be exerted. The function of the ACL is to prevent the tibia from moving in front of the knee and femur. The ACL also prevents hyperextension (or extreme stretching of the knee backward) and helps to prevent rotation of the tibia.…

I will enter Mrs. Frizzle body through the femoral vein. The femoral vein is located in the upper thigh and pelvic region of the body and runs close to the femoral artery (Yahoo Health, 2012). It’s one of the larger veins in the venal system (Yahoo Health, 2012). The femoral vein returns blood in the leg to the heart via the iliac vein (WiseGeek, 2012). Continuing North from the femoral vein I will pass through the inguinal ligament. The inguinal ligament forms a band that runs from the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubis area of the spine (Yahoo Health, 2012). It serves as a base to the inguinal canal because hernias can form there. The main function of the inguinal ligament is to protect the tissue that is constantly moving in the trunk and lower extremities of the body (Yahoo Health, 2012). From the inguinal ligament still heading north I will pass through the external iliac vein. The external iliac vein is a continuation of the femoral vein above the inguinal ligament. It starts at the groin and runs along the edge of the pelvic area (Yahoo Health, 2012). When it is combined with the internal iliac vein it…

The lower limb contains two long bones, the fibula and tibia, which are situated beside each other. The fibula bone lies on the lateral side of the lower limb and forms joints with the tibia bone and the talus bone in the ankle region. Fractures of the tibia generally are associated with fibula fracture, because the force is transmitted along the interosseous membrane to the fibula. Fibular fractures may be complete, incomplete or displaced fracture. Fibular fractures are usually simple injuries, because the bone supports the body weight partially.…

In the first few years of its opening, the school offered a secondary level course of study that required three years to complete; however, in 1912 the amount of years required was increased to four years.…
