Question 1: Summarise key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice that directly impact on your teaching and on your learning environment.

In order to summarise key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice, we need to firstly understand what these terms mean.
Legislation, regulatory requirements are a duty to act according to the law as defined in an Act of Parliament and usually enforceable through the courts.
Codes of Practice are rules outlining how a person in a particular profession or situation is expected to behave. As a Sailing instructor/ trainer, the key aspects of current legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relevant to my subject and the type of organisation/industry within which I work are as follows:-
Health and Safety at work Act 1974.
This act aims to protect people against risks to health and safety in connection with their activities at work, controlling use and possession of dangerous substances.
I will be required to make sure that the environment that I am working is suitable for me and the learners. I will be conducting a Safety presentation and Health and Safety briefing with all students at the beginning of all courses. Students will be required to sign a statement to confirm that they have seen and understood the safety briefing and Health and Safety presentation, making any adjustments if necessary.

Equality Act 2010

The purpose of this Act is to simplify the complicated and numerous Acts and Regulations, which formed the basis of anti-discrimination laws in the UK. This was, primarily, the Equal pay Act 1970, the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, the Race Relations Act 1976, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and three major statutory instruments protecting discrimination in employment on grounds of age, sexual orientation and religion.
