Climate change is a terrible problem, and it absolutely needs to be solved. It deserves to be a huge priority.
Bill Gates
Resolved: Developed countries have a moral obligation to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Before i begin, i would like to offer the following definitions;
Moral Obligation: for the purpose of this case, it means to protect and defend one’s responsibility and to do the right thing whenever one can
Mitigate: make less severe, serious, or painful
Contention 1: Protection of the People
Climate change poses a drastic and direct threat to every population. Its effects impact weather safety, food quality, and even resource competition. A government’s primary moral obligation is to protect its people from threats, foreign and domestic. If the government does not do its part to mitigate the effects of climate change, it is falling short of its main obligation.Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, Russia and
South Africa are just few examples of the developed countries that are taking this moral obligational steps of protecting their people. which means
That this different developed countries are trying their best not be insufficient in performing their commitments.
Contention 2: Humanitarian Obligations
Developed nations have a moral obligation to contribute to prosperity across the
globe. “It is incumbent upon those who have more to aid those who are less fortunate”.
Peter Senger goes on endlessly about this. Like take for exampleThis week in Lima,
Peru, United Nations has met to discuss climate change and what all countries, developed and developing, can do. Developed countries are working to to help developing countries, as they have less money and developed countries have a large amount of wealth. Talks are going to continue next year in Paris. Climate change has been proven to lead to a number of conflicts which have escalated into tremendous violence and oppression. If developed nations address climate change, it will bring us close to a peaceful society.
Which means
So what they are doing is working together to see the way to conquer this issue, in which by this we go by a proverb that states “two heads are better than one”. I mean which country doesn’t like to see its people in peace?
Contention 3: Developed Countries Reaction
Most of the governmental authorities in different advanced countries are trying to do their very best to accomplish the obligations they have to their people concerning climate change. They are trying to come up with different things and objects that can prevent or rather control this climate changes. For example the
US are taking the following steps to mitigate climate change ; Reducing carbon pollution from power plants. Accelerating Clean Energy Leadership.
Building a 21st Century Clean Energy Infrastructure. Cutting Energy Waste in Homes, Businesses, and Factories and also Reducing Other Greenhouse Gases so what am trying to say is that
This advanced countries have already started taking action not only in the US but also in other countries like the ones i listed in my first contention.
conclusion
Climate change continues to be a problem as we have seen in my above contentions but developed countries are working tirelessly to control it.
As for all this reasons i strongly stand affirmative in this debate.
Thank you

Global climate change has been a subject of much discussion for some time now. The earth has naturally gone through heating and cooling phases in its lifetime. Most scientists agree that these changes aren’t solely the product of humans, but that the time required for natural climate change has been decreased due to humans. This has led to new problems for the earth and all of its inhabitants. According to research the earth is warming at an average of 1.2-1.4° F every 100 years (epa.gov).…

Climate Change is not a new issue. There have been attempts all throughout the latter half of the 20th century to curb the effects of climate change, and some of them have even been somewhat successful. Extremely accurate measurements regarding the amount of CO2 present in the atmosphere have been taken since 1958 at the Mauna Loa Observatory, and the upward trend of the data gave us notice half a century ago about the changing of the climate. With this notice, several efforts have been made in the past, such as the Kyoto treaty to curb the emissions of these globe warming molecules. With new developments, such as massive superstorms and 100 year storms happening every 5 years, this issue has come to the public eye, and it has fallen upon the…
