Public Service Announcement Analysis
In today’s world there are many Public Service Announcements that are used to bring recognition about current problems that are going around in our societies today. Creating any type of PSA, the developers have to contemplate all the ideas, and what elements would best suit audiences. They also have to scrutinize what elements would be most successful in bringing about change on the issue being discussed. In this effective Public Service Announcement that the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has put out, many criminals harm multiple innocent victims and it all happens in just a short minute. The organization of this PSA helps grab the attention of many viewers and makes the visual clearer. The vibrant orange color always helps draw attention and brings enthusiasm to the public announcement. A black banner calls attention to the shocking statistic: EVERY 60 SECONDS an animal is abused. The use of all capital letters drives home the astounding frequency of animal abuse. A white background emphasizes the subject of the ad, a dog. The author provided the company's name, so the audience is capable of searching “ASPCA” in order to donate to the great cause. Viewing the little dog with such an innocent and pitiful face makes everyone wants to help and donate to such a caring and selfless organization. The visual cues of the dog’s body language– the pulled back ears, the dark, wide, saddened eyes; the tilt of its head drooping slightly to the side– allows the viewer to infer the abuse and neglect that this dog has been subject to. Anyone that watches T.V. knows about the heart wrenching commercials the ASPCA plays with the purpose of finding caring individuals to contribute to their cause. Most can say that they have given into this cause because they wanted to help out the defenseless creatures that were unable to defend themselves. This ad is trying to get donations and help for the animals in order for them to accommodate the animals in a safe environment. The big eye catching orange box looks as if you could press it, and an option to donate could possibly come up; seeing the button makes people want to log on and donate. This button helps create urgency in the audiences viewing the PSA to donate. These donations can help save lives and make a difference for all canine lives. No matter the circumstances, ASPCA is prepared to take on animal cruelty cases when needed, and are always willing to help investigate on helping take in an animal. These people known as the “criminals” are the animal abusers that are neglecting these poor “victims” which are the faultless animals that don’t deserve this punishment at all. Everybody should take action and make a difference in our community and the world
