without the word sleep apnea as the main topic. While, Google scholar covers all subject areas and included many sources. The data information such as date, author, and title varies a lot. Jean-Francosis, discussed google scholar may not be reliable to use for systematic review but articles from PubMed are good for systematic review because the contents and retrieval are accurate (Jean-François, Laetitia, & Stefan, 2013). Also, google scholar can retrieve many articles compared to PubMed. Nourbakhsh states “Google Scholar articles appear to have a higher number of citations and to come from higher impact journals when compared with PubMed articles” (Nourbakhsh, Nugent, Wang, Cevik, & Nugent, 2012, p. 221). Google scholar will show how many times an article has been cited or used in other papers. I was able to narrow down the number of articles that appear first by date, full text, subject heading, and article type.
I type in Sleep apnea, click on search, many articles appeared. it. The journal article I choose is credible because I got it from a reliable source (PubMed), the article must have gone through many reviews before it was published. The authors are expert on the field at same time, other experts on the field must have reviewed, and critique the peer review article before publishing. The areas of the subject matters are addressed and solution were provided, the authors provides references, and the information presented are not biased. The article I choose, describe sleep apnea, how it affect a person sleep patterns, breathing and overall heath. The sleep apnea causes health problems such as cardiovascular disease, and respiratory problems. Sleep apnea can be prevented and treated with modified lifestyles such as losing weight, eating healthy, seeking medical care immediate, and adhere to treatment and take prescribed medication. I prefer to use PubMed database because it is easier to use to search for articles. The laydown and format makes it faster to retrieve more accurate and current articles. Also, it is more effective in narrowing articles down and focus on the subject areas or major contents. It is more organized. Database search engine has been a great resource for many people in all areas: academically, business, political and health.
As a student, a database search has enable me in writing scholar academic work. Every paper/topics I have to write in school required me to use a credible source to find a peer review articles or academic journals. It shows the contents of the information in the paper are reliable, facts and not misleading. The use of database in nursing work (evidence-based practice) has been credible because it made it easier for nursing students to access information on any particular topics or disease. It also, aide in conducting research on patients based on what other experts on the field have researched, reviewed and written on the subject matter. For example, after I graduate from nursing school, I will be using current evidence based practice to provide a quality care to patients. It will enable me to make important decisions especially concerning health issues by doing my own
research.
