Introduction
As the famous offshore island and the rustic getaway, located in the north-eastern corner of Singapore, Pulau Ubin has offered its natural side with the original rural value contained into it. Most people are likely to come enjoy the rustic value of life in this island.
In the past, before land of Pulau Ubin was reclaimed in 2001, it was known not only for granite mining and but also original vegetation such as cultivation of rubber, pineapple, coffee, jasmine and coconut and beautiful beaches (National Parks, n.d.). As the tourism industry is proved to contribute big revenue to Singapore, those origin treasures of this island have been rarely found due to the greater tourism activities. The level of practices for tourism purposes, such as hiking, camping and other activities, have exceeded the limit of the natural world in the island and lead impacts on the ecosystems and environment.
