Happiness

In life sometimes almost every person goes through troubled times and must make difficult choices that create big effects on your life. In the song lyric, “Pursuit of Happiness” written by Kid Cudi, he explains the struggles of fame and fortune and the problems that come up while trying to find his own way in life during tough times. In the first stanza it says, “I’mma do just what I want, looking ahead no turning no turning back, if I fall, if I die, know I lived it to the fullest”. He explains that he wants to live life to the fullest, without regrets and that if he were to die, he would know that he lived his life the way he wanted to, to the fullest extent

Here he tries to show that everyone dreams but not equally and not always to the same extent as someone else. He also discourages the critics that attempt to understand what he raps about when in reality; they do not have the slightest idea. During the final stanza, it says, “You don’t really care about the trails of tomorrow, rather lay awake in a bed full of sorrow.” Here he connects to the ones that think they know what he’s going through. He points out that these people ignore their future and just lay feeling sorry for themselves. While Cudi has chosen to no longer stay stuck in bed ignorant of the things ahead of him and will further into his own pursuit of happiness. The chorus is, “I’m on the pursuit of happiness and I know everything that shines ain’t always gonna be gold. I’ll be fine once I get it, I’ll be good”. This explains Kid Cudi’s journey on attempting to find his own good way in life and while he parties, drinks, and smokes, the things that might seem great and glamorous, is not always going to be satisfying to him and the people he cares

First stanza takes on more of a somber mood. Death equals loss. Catherine Davis villanelle piece reflect upon how we all generally deal or except death when it comes. She sets off her tone/response with the first two lines in the first stanza with an absolute statement that, “After a time, all losses are the same”, which she implies that no matter the type of loss, time is the ultimate healer. Although through the next line Davis takes on more of a pessimistic, but realistic view on when we lose something (death) “one more thing lost is one thing less to lose”. On the other hand she views death as a rebirth of innocence/equality as,” we go stripped…

In the poem he continually discusses that death is rage, a curse, etc. These inevitable fears are first introduced in the first stanza when he states, “Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” This first stanza opens with saying one should not give into death, and when it comes, it should come with a full life. These ideas are featured once again in the last stanza. The author reveals the true purpose about the poem in this stanza, stating, “And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” In this stanza he is saying that he believes his father should fight, and that he does not care what his father has to do to fight. Giving up the fight is like being a lawn mower in a field of gardeners, in the end those who fight have a greater…

In the poem he's looking back at a moment of choice, and reflecting on how, at that moment in the past, not knowing where the chosen path would lead, he looked forward to the future, knowing that at some point in the future he would look back with knowledge of what had ensued, and would wonder what might have happened had he made the opposite choice.…

Kanye West produced the popular song “All Falls Down” in 2004. He is well known for creating many wonderful tunes but this one stands out above the rest. While his other songs contain bass-heavy instrumentals and contain lyrics about money and women, this one is strays away from the previous structures. “All Falls Down” catches the attention of youth, with its mellow melody, to send a strong message concerning the overemphasis on money and education and how it can be harmful through the lyrics. The issues contained in the message are highly focused on the idea that money and education will not always be there throughout life. A person cannot always expect everything will go accordingly and he or she will be rich because he or she has an education. This is one of the few songs that convey a critical, yet positive, view of the harshness of reality for listeners.…

Everyone wanted to hear how this man managed to live life this long and reach the age of one hundred and two. Also relating to life now, many people are always watching tv or on their phones, not focusing on being social and living life. People sometimes will care more about what is on their phone than spending time with friends or family. This song represents the message that time is valuable and our time living this life should be spent with people that could be gone at any moment. Since you don’t know how long you are going to live or what events could happen, it is important to live your life to the fullest extent and have no regrets. In the line "Best start putting first things first”, an idiom is found in the phrase first things first. This relates to the theme of the song because the lyrics are saying to always put the most important components of life first if you haven’t started yet. Another literary device can be found with the words “I was glued to my Tv” which represent another idiom. This device relates to the theme because it shows that people want to know the strategies to living life…

Millions of people in the world listen to music for all different reasons. Most people all over the world listen to different genres of music in order to relax, but not too many people pay attention to the actual lyrics of a song. If you listen to this song, you will realize that Tupac raps about not only the problems that African Americans face from society, but also the struggles that poor people in society have to endure and overcome. He wrote this song from his real life experiences or his close friends as he does all of his songs it seems. I believe that makes him unique from many artists that just sing lyrics someone else wrote. Runnin’ Down a Dream provides a very up tempo beat that can lift crowds out of their seats. When you listen to this song you can’t help but to dream of success, and also realize the pathway to success can be bumpy, if you will. The song also tells you that in order to make his dreams come true he had to run them down. Dreams don’t just come to you have to go get them, which I believe is an excellent message.…

As the poem continues, the mood gradually lightens up. The author uses melancholy views of death to write a poem that is, in fact, about life and its beauty. She lists many things that she wants to achieve in life. Not material things, but personal things. For instance, when death comes to her, she wants to be able to say that she was "a bride married to amazement…taking life into [her] arms". She says, " I want to step through the door or curiosity, wondering: what is it going to be like, that cottage of darkness." Here she states that although she does not want to dwell on the fact that her life will someday come to an end, it is perfectly normal to wonder about death.…

“Going far ahead on the road” could be symbolism for following the path that we take in order to achieve what we really want. When we latch onto this dream, this want, this desire, we are energized to get up and walk towards. “Grasped by what we cannot grasp” is the drive that is making us head in this direction. In the second stanza is kind of seems as though he is saying that your main goal is unachievable, but on the way to the goal you thought you wanted you end up being exactly where you should and want to be. Although that dream wasn't accomplished, the journey of trying wasn’t…

The film The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 American biographical drama produced by and starring Will Smith. The main character of the film is inspired by Chris Gardner’s real-life struggle and how he overcame life challenges to achieve his dream.
