Multicultural research methodologies are one of the newest research fields to be implemented in recent decades. Traditional research methodology has been established for centuries, and has a very orthodox view of things like norms, measurement instruments, sampling, and observation. Multicultural researchers quickly found out that applying these same factors to their own research was inappropriate; the field of multicultural research demanded a different perspective if any sort of useful and accurate findings were ever going to be issued. Two areas where there is great difference between multicultural research and traditional research are measurement instruments and norms. In these two areas it is easy to demonstrate how traditional research has a much easier time being performed with the standard and well established concepts involving measurement instruments and norms. However, when a multicultural researcher attempts to answer a question or reinforce a hypothesis he or she will quickly find out that they must perform their research in a way that is very different from those in the traditional field.…

Prior to the enactment of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) health information was able to be shared without the knowledge or permission of the patient. This information was available to just about anyone including insurance agencies, places of employment and even loan lenders. People would potentially use individuals’ health information to deny them work or a loan for their home and even impacting higher insurance rates or denial of coverage. According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (n.d.), “The Privacy Rule establishes a Federal floor of safeguards to protect the confidentiality of medical information. State laws which provide stronger privacy protections will continue to apply over and above the new Federal privacy standards.” (para. 1). Also, as medical records continue to move entirely to the new standard of electronic records it is important to have one standard across the country to protect everyone’s information. Electronic health records (EHR) make it easier than ever to accidentally share medical information, to include having it stolen. Medical providers are just as likely to face consequence if their facility is broken in to and the hard drive with patients information is stolen as they would be if they gave the information away themselves. In general HIPPA protects patients’ information as well as their right to be treated equally.…

In the view of Goffman (as seen in Silva,2009,p316) social order is produced by individuals and their actions. Their face to face interaction on meetings with each other, depending on any given situation. We perform, like actors on a stage, sometimes consciously or subconsciously, changing expressions and body language to get the response we want. An example of this would be when we go into a shop, the assistant will be charming and welcoming while she is with us, but, may well be pleased to see us go and possibly suggest we were a waste of her time, and be quite condescending. We read situations so that we know how to react, we learn and are bound by rules of conduct by using these bodily gestures to get the response we want. These repetitive practices allow us to live together, mostly, in harmony. This also produces invisible social order and generates understanding by living together.…
