When looking at the play I can truly understand how this question would come into effect and by looking at all the information I can agree as well that indeed we see Eliza turn into a human being. This is because overall in the beginning we see Eliza display certain characteristics that may not seem that of a human being, prior to the transformation of Higgins and Pickering. When getting a first glimpse of Eliza in the beginning of the play we see that she is very primitive in thought, lacked proper speech, and had no self dignity to stand up for herself. These factors, although before was seen as lower class, today is seen as characteristics of that of a real human being. We would see today these people in many countries including are own as subhuman but not of culture or ethnicity but lack of normal human characteristics. I see this change though in the play for many reasons but which are most important is that fact that she has gained knowledge and self awareness, she has learned speech, and she has grown dignity within herself to not let her be bossed around. All these factors are crucial in the development of a normal human being and without these characteristics we loose our humanity.
The first example I see in her transformation is the change in knowledge and self-awareness. We do understand that at the beginning she was a flower girl with no sense of understanding due to her lack of knowledge. To be human is to have understanding of who you are what is your purpose and what Is happening all around you. This can easily be achieve through education as it gives us an insight what truly makes us human. To neglect knowledge of human achievements and characteristics that has branded us humans, is to neglect being human at all. Due to Eliza's low class, she lacks this as she had to be rushed onto the workforce and had no time to study like the nobles did. English is such information that brands a branch of human
