Movements come in sudden bursts after period’s long periods of not moving however the Pygmy Marmoset moves slowly until it reaches a branch or trunk for protection most of the time. A scared Pygmy Marmoset continually turns its head in all directions. Pygmy Marmosets make 10-20 mm holes in the bark of trees, possibly taking days or weeks and repeated visits to develop a hole to the depth at which the sap can be eaten, and then they visit the tree each day to eat the sap. They will make new holes daily. These marmosets regularly move to different places, depending on the availability of sap. Pygmy Marmosets have a variety of calls, including a trill to communicate over a long distance, a high sharp warning whistle and a clicking sound for threats.

How It Reproduces - The Pygmy Marmoset reaches maturity at 18 to 24 months. Gestation is approximately 18- 20 weeks; they mostly have twins and sometimes have triplets which is cool because Pygmy Marmosets are the only primates that normally have twins. Weight at birth averages from 16g. Pygmy Marmosets babies are weaned at three months of age.
