What do you know about Pygmy three-toed sloths, probably not that much. Sloths are very interesting animals. This is shown by their habits, habitats, life's, diet, and size. Sloths are very interesting in that they are endangered and the pygmy three-toed sloths only live on an island off of the mainland of Panama. There are only about one hundred left.
Sloths have a lot of interesting and odd habits. When sloths feed they use their long claws to eat leafs that are found in tropical Central, and South America. A sloth's gestation period is eight and a half months to eleven months. Sloths start out very little riding their mother’s stomachs for about two weeks after birth. They then stick around their mother until they are about four years old. After the four years with their mothers they become independent and do not have much interaction with other sloths besides mating. One interesting thing that sloths do is they stay in trees their whole life they only come down to excrete themselves.
Sloths have a very interesting diet. Sloths feed off of mainly tropical tree leaves. This probably sounds boring and repetitious but they feed off of fifty different tree species. Sloths also feed on small insects that are on the trees that they are eating the leaves off of. So in the process of eating their tree leaves they often ingest caterpillars, eggs, and fruit flies.
Sloths vary in size quite a bit. Ancient sloths are said to have been as big as elephants although they are not that large now they still have an interesting size. Compared to the brown throated sloths they are 40% smaller in body size. They weigh only five to seven pounds. Although their small size they still manage to have four inch claws that allow them to
