Python was born in the filth and muck covering Gaia after the great flood.(Saunders,Chas,and Peter J. Allens eds. “Python- The Greek Demon”) This creature is referred to as a giant snake-like dragon demon. keeping him from causing more trouble than he already he was, they sent him to guard the oracle at Delphi. The Wife of Zeus, Hera, had recently learned of Zeus unfaithfulness with Leto. This was nothing new from Zeus so she persuaded Python to exact her revenge.(Saunders, Chas, and Peter J. Allen, eds. "HERA - the Greek Goddess of Marriage (Greek mythology).") She had python chase Leto and keep her from giving birth anywhere the sun shone. Leto managed to hide out long enough to give birth to Apollo and Artemis, out of the two Apollo, being a god, managed to grow into adulthood during this time of which leto was being hunted by python.

The battle began with apollo shooting one of his three mystical arrows into the cave, this arrow struck python on the dome and python let out a terrifying screech as he died; This screech carried on for miles.
Apollo earned the title of Pythian Apollo and he claims the oracle of delphi as his own. The people whom Python was terrorizing began a contest in apollo’s name known as the Pythian games. The Pythian games were similar to the olympics however they did contain art and dance competitions. Python however, was the daughter of a goddess, so apollo is banished to the Vale of Tempe and is also condemned by Zeus on another occasion to spend a large period in the land of
humanity.
Python was born in filth and died in a similar fashion due to its own wrong doings, Apollo went on to take the Oracle of Delphi and to “Do the Time” for what he had done.
