The resident resides in her own room and uses a walker for mobility. According to the RP the resident is able to keep and self-administer her medications. Consequently the resident's medication Lorazepam (Ativan) is constantly being stolen. The RP disclosed the medication is prescribed for agitation and anxiety. Today, MSC went to Ernest's IRA located at 40 River rd., New York, NY. SC greeted staff and spoke with his residential staff Alisia. She stated that there were some issues with Ernest refusing to deposit his checks at the bank. He told staff he doesn't have time for that and they are wasting his time. Jaidyss needs the hearing aid to function at school. Jaidyss' parents (KeAndrea and Travis) are aware of this. Jaidyss did have one hearing aid when he was first enrolled in the school on 09-22-17. The hearing aid battery had to be replaced and fixed. Now, Jaidyss has lost the only one hearing aid he had. The reporter spoke with KeAndrea and Travis on last week concerning Jaidyss' hearing aid. On a Saturday night there were an incident between two males and a female in a bar called Bottom’s Up. A man name John had too much to drink and was intoxicated. He was shouting obscenities toward a lady name Jane that was sitting at a table next to another guy name Leroy, which he was a frequent customer. In this scenario the emergency room physician, Dr. K, had determined that the patient, Mr. E, is suffering from lung congestion, would need immediate medical intervention in order to survive. Based on Mr. E’s diagnoses, Dr. K thought that Mr. E may not understand the urgency of the required medical intervention. Dr. K asks the nurse to speak to the patient’s brother, Mr. Y, who is the authorized person to make medical decisions for him when he is not able to. In addition, Mr. E has an advance directive on file indicating he did not want a ventilator or cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The previously stated Code of Regulations implied that the nurse should be an advocate for the patient in improving his health through direct and indirect means.
