Qualitative Exploratory Case Study
Rising health care costs have influenced organizational to a reassessment of organizational expenses. Organizational leaders realize that health care expenses are escalating, and strategies must be proposed to control this cost. Organizations’ could choose to remove funding for health care insurance and place the responsibility completely employees. In a responsible and reasonable manner, most organizations have taken the responsibility of combating rising health care costs by sponsoring wellness programs. However, wellness programs thought to be a solution to rising health care have reached a moderate success due to the lack of employee participation. This lack of employee participation could prevent wellness programs from reaching success. Employees feel that established wellness programs hampered with issues such as improper incentive, an inadequacy in management, and uncertainties in goals (Vesely, 2008). Thus, organizational leaders must create strategies and inaititives to improve employee participation in wellness programs. …show more content…
The purpose of this qualitative exploratory case study is to develop new strategies and initiatives to improve employee participation in wellness programs. The significance of the study is the lack of employee participation is preventing the strategy of combating rising health care with the use of wellness programs from success. The nature of the study will explore the lived experiences of 20 professionals with the use of a qualitative exploratory case study. The primary research question for this study is what can organizational leaders do to improve employee participation in wellness programs. This study will also have three other research questions aimed to answer what strategies and initiatives can organizational leaders develop to improve employee participation in wellness

    In order to achieve this goal the CDC promotes positive health based programs both in communities and places of employment. If employers create a healthier workplace then not only will it decrease the likelihood that employees will have to miss work due to injury or illness, it will also ensure higher productivity from staff. If companies enact policies and procedures that support health it will make that company more attractive place to work for both existing employees and potential new employees.
